How man miles has your Remapped Fabia VRS done?

Featured Replies

HIya

Just bought myself a Skoda Fabia VRS its a 2005 plate but its done 119,000 miles though it does have full service history. HAS it done to many miles to be remapped?

cheers si

Only just run in.

Mine (pd130 engine) was remapped to 220bhp at about 7,000 miles on the clock, went to about 250bhp at 40,000 miles on the clock and is now on its way to 300bhp at 90,000 miles on the clock. On a derv there is no such thing as "too old" or "too many miles"

In fact even on petrols thats the cae as I remember Jabba saying their best stock 1.8T remap was on a 200,000 mile old Seat Leon.

R-Tech have a great deal of experience with those engines/ECU's (Bosch EDC15) so that may be the place to go.

Mines done 56k and was only re-mapped at 50k along with a service and cambelt change.

Many people on here have had over 100k+ then re-mapped. So long as the engine has had plenty of service history and looked after theres no issues. 119k for a derv is nothing :)

Thanks for the advice, the car certainly feels great you would nt know it had done that many miles.

had mine mapped at 90k, now done 100k, no problems

I'd imagine mine was remapped from a very low milage it's on 67k now and goes like a dream

:giggle: Mine had done 140,000 miles when mapped, now 143, still fine, gonna big turbo it in next couple of months :D

Only just found out mine is mapped...

Dunno when or where but mine is at a whisker over 70k

it may have been mapped young though...

Just had mine mapped about 400 miles ago - total mileage 95K

mines just gone over 150k remapped it at 143k pulls like a train love the power (178bhp 285ft-lb) a few things i have found though strut brace  so much better in corners but i still need to lower mine :'( brakes seem to cope well with the extra power although it does eat pads up quick now as well as tyres  you play you pay off to the nurburgring on thursday for the 2nd time 1st time in this looking forward to it i and going to see if i can get there on one tank 600 miles each way at mo i get around 400 around town so we shall see

Shark_90 reckons they are better as they get older. He could just be saying that because I'm a high mileage driver!

I'd say that if anything is going to let go (clutch or turbo), you'll only be shortening it's life by a little bit and it was probably hanging on by it's fingertips anyway. It's a slippery slope though. New turbo (you'll get a bigger one, obviously) and new clutch (you'll get a better one of those too) and before you know it that £250 remap is actually £2500). Warwick_Hunt has has spent a simply ludicrous amount on his, but it's been done properly, so it stops and handles as well as it goes. Personally, I'm with Moggy_Tech - if you wanted a faster car you should have bought one in the first place.

Oh, and I hope you bought it AFTER it's 120,000 mile service as it needs the cambelt service at that point.

Mapped at +/- 30k. Now on 135k. B)

Mine clocked 94k the other day and Ben put one of his maps on it for me 2 weeks ago :) very very pleased, goes very well now. Send Shark_90 a message or phone Sharkperformance and have a word, he will be able to give you an informative guide to a remap. Goods price at £275 for a furby too

Thanks for all your input, so how much difference in the real world does remapping make, Ive seen the figures but what about day to day driving

cheers si

Because mine was at a highish mileage and i was a bit worried about various parts going, i asked for a mild map, so its running about 160-170bhp, and low torque.

However, even with that, its a totally different car to drive. Its not even the extra power, but the spread of it, making even everyday steady driving more enjoyable. Obviously the extra power is fun when wanting to use it, and as a bonus, when driving stead it uses less fuel, because of the better power spread.
