Lowering vRS

Featured Replies

Ive spoken to my mate and ive ordered a set of FK High-Tec Springs. They say 35mm-40mm drop so should sit exaclty where i want it. Managed to get them for a very good price aswell.

Once i get the wheels on, i will do a before and after picture of them on. Hopefully have them on before GTI International. :D

I'd be interested to see the pictures, if it sits lower than mine, I may have to invest!

Sounds good to met. Doing 30k a year means I will probably have to stick with the Eibach option direct from Skoda in case of any warranty issues down the line with dampers, etc :'(

40mm drop on standard shocks? Not wishing to scaremonger but IMHO that could be a recipe for repeatedly hitting the bumpstops and knackering your shocks unless the springs are absolutely rock hard.

A 1.5" drop on standard shocks is a fair amount! OK its not -60mm but its still a fair whack!

Big drops are fine with uprated shocks ...................

Is that 35-40mm from a standard model Octy ? or the VRS ?

Don't forget the VRS is around 15mm lower than the Elegance already so adding these springs to a VRS then lowers that by 20 to 25mm

This topic has been covered estensively on the Eibach springs IIRC

Shocks and Springs going on today. Got the High-Tech Dampers to go along with the springs.

It will be 20-25mm lower on the vRS as the Springs are for all models. Pictures later on.

Car has this morning been lowered on the springs. Can report that no comfort has been lost on these. Cant wait for them to settle down now.

Sorry guys for not having posted the pictures of lowered vRS versus non-lowered but can't figure out how to just attach them. Used to do it no problem with other forums, but seems can't do it here.

Sarge.

I'm looking forward to your pics Sarge, maybe host them via Photobucket you just need to insert the IMG-------- image number then, really easy

a waugh - Looks fantastic mate, really fantastic. Your car will be the twin of mine with the BBS and slightly lowered. Might get my BBS done in Anthracite though. Is that a 20/25mm drop? I'm hoping my 20/25mm Eibach OEM spring option looks the same.

Moley RUFC - Will work out about 20-25mm lower as the springs are for all models of Octavia. Really comfortable ride.

Davie - Remember a hankie when you come over and see my car tomorrow. :p

Lets just hope your cars as clean as wee Cayden's car ;) we've been polishing it ALL DAY :D :p  lol

a_waugh - Where did you get your BBS reps from and how much did they weigh against your OEM wheels?

  • Author

I got them from a place in Falkirk called Skidz. Been using them for years for audio stuff. Great to deal with.

They are lighter than the standard 18" Zenith alloy, but heavier than a proper CH. (lifted 1 of them the other day)

Settled a bit more. Pictures from yesterdays ScottishVAG meet at Kaimes:

Or getting pulled for the dodgy plate ;)

There are a set of those 20" Audi Fat Fives for reasonable money on E38 classifieds at the moment.
