not agreeing or disagreeing. but it annoys me when people choose a remap on peak figures alone.

You are missing the point of a good remap. (not saying revo arn't good, because they undoubtedly are), you are quoting bigger torque and Hp figures, but that doesnt tell the whole story.

when it comes to a remap, you dont want a peaky curve or torque or horsepower. you want the high ouput to last as long as possible and it to be sustained across the entire rev range.

this is the reason why a 200Hp/207Ibft GTI can keep up with with a focus ST with 225Hp/240Ibft, because it sustains the high output for longer period of time.

I've driven alot of REVO cars now and have been nothing but impressed with them. the way they design their maps, is for this god almighty surge of power from low down which makes the car feel much much stronger than it actually is, but it does seem to die away sooner than others. It also makes traction more of an issue when it is delivered like that.

ive driven n APR stage 2+ car now and a shark performance stage 3 and the delivery was much different to the REVO delivery. It was more OEM in its delivery and fel more progressive and controllable. and with the 3 cars on he same bit of road there was the grand total of zero difference between them.

so when it comes to choosing a remap, you need to be looking at how you want the power to be delivered. do you want it to feel really fast from very low down, but be a nightmare in the rain and when exiting corners, or would you rather a smoother progressive delivery that will help with traction in the wet, yet still be as fast in the end.

BTW im not slating revo as i would recommend them to anyone in the market fro a remap, but id equally recommend APR and shark performance.

.

Which car with Revo you feel dies off? KO3 or KO4? My car on JKM's dyno peaks at 324bhp and still makes 320bhp at 7400rpm. Torque doesn't drop below 250 lbs ft until after 6800 rpm.

i found this quote fom SCN which sort of backs up the torque delivery surge i was talking about. REVOs demo leon uses a different more linear delivery than the regular maps as the guy who runs it doesnt think the big surge of torque makes for good progress.

it does sound very positive, getting traction on track, in corners and in the wet in a scrabble drive is a pain at the best of the times, so a more linear map would be right up my street.

For guys looking into revo maps, they should definately question them bout getting one of these

It was the fact that GIAC insisted on the VF intake that infuriated me. Anyway i have now moved on to Revo and as iv,e said earlier they really looked after me and gave me what i wanted.

The file i have is called a Linear acceleration map. It was explained to me like this ( if you need more info give them a bell.)

Martyn who drives their K1, wanted a file that would give him more control of the throttle and thought the large surge of torque the regular file delivers actually hindered progress. Apparently when you request say 30% throttle with the fly by wire system the actual amount delivered could be more like 36 - 38%. This file gives a 1 to 1 ratio so if you want 30% you get it, hence the driver gets a lot more positive feel for what the tyres are doing. I was surprised to learn that their car does,nt,t have a diff - apparently this map does what it says. That's good for me as i was just about to put a diff in mine but won,t bother now.

First impressions are very good. The throttle feels more like the old cable affair, you feel as though your right foot is directly in contact with the boost. Compared to my previous GIAC file there is definitely not as much torque in the lower rev range but i suppose that will save my clutch. The car is a real rev monster now and boy does it pull hard at the top end.

Revo liberated another 35psi on my fuel rail and gave me another 5 psi boost. I am running B9 T7 F6 on V power and Carl said i could max out the timing with octane booster providing i log the car first to make sure there,s not too much timing pull. This file may not suit everyone but at least you now have a choice. I can,t see this file being of any benefit to those already with a diff.

Is that a K03 or K04 Map (i know the K1 is K04 i mean is the Guy who had this "linear acceleration map" got a K03 or K04 car)

Cheers Mickey

Oh how have you managed to get your car to Rev to 7400rpm? I thought redline was 6800 on the vRS?

Redline is at 6500 but it keeps going beyond it lol

I gotta get me a K04 now

R32 Brakes are going on soon if i can get the time (and permission from SWMBO) as they are pretty useless sat on the shelf in my Garage :giggle:

Just buy an Ed30/S3 engine Carl and be done with it.

Sell yours for a few quid. Win all round.

Ian

Pack it in will you

K04 will be far enough for me thank you very much :p

I know now why you aint coming to mine. It's cos you keep influencing me to spend money and dont want AM to give you a hiding :giggle:

AM to give you a hiding :giggle:

Didn't realise that was on the cards :o

See

Your missing out

all the tuners can raise the rev limit if they want. pointless on a k03 as it will run out of steam, but the k04 can hold it for that bit longer

It is possible on a K03. From my old Octy
