THANK YOU REVO

Featured Replies

well after getting my new vrs 170 on march the 1st ive been looking around for a good company to re-map the car, after talking for a while to revo i decided to drive the 3.5 hours down to their headoffice to get this work done,i must say i was very impressed with this company and all my questions were answerd putting my mind at ease about re-mapping the car,i spoke to a gentleman in the headoffice called carl who was spot on with his work on the ecu,so after the boaring drive down 2.5 hours later it was time to go home.

the shock i got from this re-mapping is really quite something to shout about, the car just keeps pulling and pulling all the way though the rev range, even in sixth it pulls like a train,i went for the the revo select systerm which allows you to put the car back to stock when needed, this is really good when your car has to go back to the dealers for any work to be carried out.so if you ever thought of re-mapping your skoda then for me this is the company to do your work, free drinks,tv to watch, very comfortable waiting area, quality work and best of all a nice big discount, and to cap it car was doing 54mpg all the way home emoticon-0105-wink.gif

Cant get anywhere near that for consumption<petrol> but the performance is so linear isn't it

If you don't mind me asking, how much was it?

If you divide your mpg by 2, then you'd see what i get on an average around town

Sounds good, but probably nothing Shark Performance couldn't have done just as well - see Colin's blog entry on his Superb for info

Enjoy it though emoticon-0148-yes.gif

not knocking him but i think revo gives more bhp and more torque, well i seemed to get this when i was doing my homework on re-mapping,also ive had revo on previous cars so i knew what i was getting, also i wanted to put the car back to stock if it ever needs to go back to the dealers.

i paided £400 all in,it should have been £550 plus vat so i got a very good saving emoticon-0110-tongueout.gif

What figures are REVO quoting ?

How do you put it back to stock? I thought the CRs needed the ECU out for re-programming...

208 bhp and 321 nm of torque, please note dont get this into a tuner war as iam old school and come from 7000 posts on vxronline which were mainly all about tuning wars.at the end of the day REVO are a multi million pound world wide company that only tune the VAG range so they no the product inside out,you can also ge tREVO done at some SKODA dealerships around the country so for me that speaks itself.

plug the device into the obd port, select 1 for standard and 2 for performance, turn ignition on wait for the beep, turn ignition off and remove its that simple

not agreeing or disagreeing. but it annoys me when people choose a remap on peak figures alone.

You are missing the point of a good remap. (not saying revo arn't good, because they undoubtedly are), you are quoting bigger torque and Hp figures, but that doesnt tell the whole story.

when it comes to a remap, you dont want a peaky curve or torque or horsepower. you want the high ouput to last as long as possible and it to be sustained across the entire rev range.

this is the reason why a 200Hp/207Ibft GTI can keep up with with a focus ST with 225Hp/240Ibft, because it sustains the high output for longer period of time.

I've driven alot of REVO cars now and have been nothing but impressed with them. the way they design their maps, is for this god almighty surge of power from low down which makes the car feel much much stronger than it actually is, but it does seem to die away sooner than others. It also makes traction more of an issue when it is delivered like that.

ive driven n APR stage 2+ car now and a shark performance stage 3 and the delivery was much different to the REVO delivery. It was more OEM in its delivery and fel more progressive and controllable. and with the 3 cars on he same bit of road there was the grand total of zero difference between them.

so when it comes to choosing a remap, you need to be looking at how you want the power to be delivered. do you want it to feel really fast from very low down, but be a nightmare in the rain and when exiting corners, or would you rather a smoother progressive delivery that will help with traction in the wet, yet still be as fast in the end.

BTW im not slating revo as i would recommend them to anyone in the market fro a remap, but id equally recommend APR and shark performance.

.

That was never the intention, I only queried as you said REVO gave you more :'(

BTW it isnt the standard Oem map that you are switching back to. it is a REVO version of the standard map that will produce roughly the same output as before.

if you want to switch back to the std map you need an STS or bluefin handset.

APR can switch back to stock via the cruise control, however im not to sure if its the Oem stock map, or an APR version.

but have apr or shark made a device that lets you put it back to stock within a couple of mins, that was one of the main factors i went for this

Presumably this means you were lucky and got an unprotected ECU?

The following thread mentions a REVO dealer agreeing the original post...

from past experience blue-fin superchips are crap, also dont think you can re-map the new current 10 plate software with a bluefin unit.

APR yes, prob even quicker as its via the cruise control stalk. shark performance will take you about 10 minutes

well as the saying goes its horses for courses, some say revo, others shark, and others blue-fin etc,but in the world of golf and s3's it allways seems to be the revo cars that are the quickest, take the leon k1,dont think anyone can get anywere near the performace of revo's version.

fully agree with you mate. I originlly had bluefin on my car at stages1 followed by 2 then 2+ witha ll the supporting mods, however the delivery wasnt upto scratch and i wsnt imoressed. It made 287Hp on AMDs rollers when at stage 2+, so even taking into account dyno lottery figures it was by no means slow,

however bens stage 2 shark performance car with no uprated fuel pump was quicker. purely down to the delivery as his was only making 260Hp in comparison. this was hat made me swap maps as i prefered the linear delivery of it in comparison to everything else i tested. (and i drove alot of different cars to compare)

since then i have been at shark performance stage 3, then went down to stage 2 and am now runnig stage 1 on a stock car as i was planning on selling up. as it happens ive changed my mind and am going to re-mod the car, but in a different direction this time

thats pure opinion. REVO had the monopoly on the tfsi as they were the first big name to get in there over here. however the likes of jabbasport, GIAC are more than matching them at SANTA pod. Also at one of the recent RR days on the GTI forum there were bluefin stage 2+ k04 cars right in the mix at the top end performers.

REVO has one huge plus point for me though, and its the adjustability of it. with the SPS+ handset, you an hange your settins provided you handy with VCDS and logging, and thus can enhance the settings to suit additional mods, different fuel grades, or hotter cooler weather etc. no one else has done that.

like i said i had 5 years tuning astra vxr's and you learn alot by your mistakes, tuner wars will go on and on as theres so many people who dont no what they want and what they are getting,at the end of the day it makes great conversation for when were in the pub emoticon-0105-wink.gif

i no mate ive been reading alot over the weeks on your posts, totally agree theres no point in having 200 plus bhp cars when they wont stop or go round a corner, like i said ive had 5 plus years on astra vxr's and trying to get my head round tuning and sorting the handling out on the octavia is a good quest, even more when its a derv

give us a sout if you after modding the chassis. ive driven alot of different setups now on the mk5 chassis from full road going race prepped mk5 GTIs(VWR demo car), to fully kitted out cupras, GTIs and vRS's.

Shark_90 is now the proud owner of ll my chassis mods, of which i miss them greatly, because the standard vRS is crap in the bends. Ive got some good plans for the new handling approach this time
