2Ltr PD TDi Scout Hesitant !

Featured Replies

:( My 09 FL Scout is hesitant when pulling off in first gear when giving a light throttle its as though something is cutting in and stopping it from going, if I give it some wellie then it will go, usually with a boost from 1500 rpm, could it be the turbo not boosting low down ? anybody else had any problems ? cheers - Stuart.

My '07 Scout loses it's urge or willingness to pull now and again but that seems to be down to the DPF doing it's burn off thing. Have noticed it can be a bit "hesitant" around the 1500-1800 rpm mark too, but only now and again, usually within the first few miles of setting off, just as the engine gets warm, and normally when I'm being slowed down to about 50mph but a midweek "Sunday" driver; again I presume it's the DPF. Do you notice a burning smell or any exhaust "tinking" after you've stopped ?

Hi Andy, Not noticed any smells after stopping, like you its more noticeable when its cold but I can still feel it even when warm on a very light throttle below 1500 rpm and usually only in first gear, can I monitor any activity with VAGCOM and then log it to help find the problem ? cheers - Stuart.

Looks like your keyboard has a similiar problem :giggle:

Not sure about the vagcom stuff but I'm picking mine up tonight after a service, will try sustained light throttle at 1500 rpm and see what occurs. Have noticed it before tho....

:giggle: Sorry about the posts can a mod delete them, its below 1500rpm when setting off in first gear it just doesn't pick up as though the turbo has a massive lag, I was blaming the tight engine but as its done 7500mls it should be loosening up now. cheers - Stuart

Turbo won't be kicking in that low down, surely?

My Pug 406 1.9td did. It idled at 1000rpm and the turbo came in at 1200 - nice. B)

As I said I would : - Ran it at 1500rpm in 1st , no probs. Did notice, a few miles after I'd picked it up, that, like I've mentioned before, a bit of reluctance to "go" around the 1500 - 1800 rpm mark ( feels like the power's being sapped ), but again I think it's the DPF burn off thing. Tried it again this morning, was all sweet. Fuel filter maybe ?

If it's standard there is no way the turbo started kicking in with any serious boost on a 1.9XUD at 1200rpm.

More like 1800rpm for spin up to get the turbo to a speed where it started to become usable and proper full boost boost from around 2100 to 2200 rpm.

It wasn't a small turbo on that car and also wasn't vnt equipped.

As to the OP, I notice similar on a 2.0 PD 140 and suspect it might be the MAF but I'm looking at other items first.
