New Fabia vRS Review

Looks like we'll have to park in a far away corner of the supermarket as there are no rubbing strips on the side. Wonder why we cant have red with a white roof in the U.K?

Bacause Skoda UK think they know best.

We also can't have the anthracite roof here or the red seats, or the Amundsen sat nav........

There's a very complimentary review of the new RS in the latest Car Magazine (not available online though) I only read it in Sainsbury's today but generally the speaking the verdict was:

+ Gearbox more sorted than in the Ibiza

+ Very good handling and excellent grip whilst still maintaing good ride

+ Pleased a combi version is available

- Noisier than Ibiza and Polo

- 'Dull' interior

Looking forward to seeing the vrs combi because I think thats the one I would go for. Still a bit concerned about the lack of side protection though for reckless door opening. :wonder:

If they do it with a Manual box i'd buy one :)

But do you spend another £3k on the Polo so it looks better?

OR diesel vrs mk1 would still be an option.

Just seen the new Fabia Vrs available for £13797 on the internet on the road UK supplied.

You could just buy the side protectors from your dealer and fit them yourself, its easy. As for the Polo looking better, no way. Someone at work parked a new Polo next to my Fabia today and I thought mine looked far more interesting. As for the interiors, both the VW and Skoda are dreadfully boring and plain but at least the Skodas available in white/black

i think its going to be a massive flop!!

who in there right mind wants a 5 door PETROL hatch!!

if you want revs and petrol your going to buy the 3 door clio 200 cause your a boy racer!

you aint gona buy a petrol 5 door fabia

shame they didnt do a diesel! i cant wait to blast one away in my mark1 diesel vrs B)

LOL, no one who knows anything about cars would buy a Clio... it will just fall apart in a short time like they all do. Who wants a 5 door hatch? Well, you have one albeit with a tractor engine... I would dearly love to see an old diesel VRS attempt to trounce a proper engined new VRS :giggle: .

so what happens when you hit a corner with your 230bhp? my vrs is lowered and re mapped to 180 ,the suppension is set up as good as it gets and i realy think the car feels heavy in and out of corners and not realy that sporty but massive fun in a straight line, iam a little bias i have just orded a new vrs love high reving engines and love not to hear the engine rattleling like a bag of spanners .i do love my vrs but time for a change back to petrol .everyone to there own ,and i think a 5 door fast hatch is a great idear .i have seen it in the flesh in germany and its spot on .and how much extra money to you have to pay to get yourcar to 230safely ?

This is true - power is nothing without control. Having 230 bhp and no handling mods is a bit lol.

I rely on my 800 quids with of kw coilovers and my 1500 brembo gt kit

any more questions?

Lol

Aye those should certainly help :);)

Why not spend an extra 10% on a rear anti roll bar and a front strut though? Both vastly improve handling imo :)

I haven't? :S

You say the new vRS (180BHP) would be faster then an old (MK1) vRS tuned to 230 BHP both with the same handling mods?

sorry no what iam saying if i spent£ 2300 for remap and engine mods on the new car ,thats just what has been spent on brakes and suppension on the mk1 .the new car would be up if not past the 230 bhp ,hate to think how much the engine mods cost to get the old one up to 230 .iam not having a go just you can make anything quick if you throw a few quid at it .thats all .

Isnt the new dsg box untuneable as its at its limits already?

Sure i read that about the ibiza cupra??

6k to be precise

revo do a simple map for that engine takes it to 215 you can get the dsg box mapped to for faster gear changes if thats possible and lauch control who would ever use that lol.i have looked into it and the gearbox isnt a isue .unless you going to put 300 bhp through it lol

It's all very well arguing whether a modded Mk1 RS could outpace a new one but in real world conditions, from stock, I would have thought the new car is a lot quicker.
