Picking up vRS soon, what can the dealer change?

Featured Replies

Hi All

I'm shortly to pick up my 3rd vRS, a white CRi hatch after two race blue petrols, one hatch, one estate. As I wont have maxi dot I need the dealer to change some options, regarding central locking etc. So

1: do cars come with that annoying extra wipe now that smears the screen? As my first had it but my second didn't.

2: can the central locking be set to both open all doors with one press of the remote and have the anti hijack locking feature? As last time my dealer said you could have one but not both!

Well my new CR vRS doesn't have the annoying teardrop wipe - I was glad to see the back of that.

I have a non-Maxidot car but not sure what else they can tweak.

Although I have a VCDS cable so I'm hoping to tweak some settings myself :)

Is there only one rear fog light?? Why don't they have both turned on as default? Power saving?!

Can the extra fog light be enabled with maxidot?

More to the point, has anyone with a FL actually managed to get this activated with the latest VCDS yet?

I haven't found anyone who's managed to enable the second fog light on a FL yet...

Have a 2 week old one myself and my dealer who was the most helpfull man in the world and would do anything for you (West End in Edinburgh incase your wondering) said the 2nd foglight thing was a myth as was the cornering fogs as they were on able to be activated if you had xeon's.

Not sure how much truth is in that but see no reason why he would lie.

As everyone who's had a pre FL car will tell you, enabling both rear foglights and sorting out the cornering fogs was easy to do then - xenons or not! I've got them enabled on mine (which does have xenons) but I'm sure someone else will be along and tell you that they also have them enabled with their halogen headlights.

The rear fog problem crept in when the FL car was fitted with updated controllers which VCDS couldn't interact with - hence 9 months of single lights! VCDS has been updated since but I was wondering if anyone had used the very latest version to check for any progress.

Been tinkering with my VCDS

Managed to enable cornering lights, emergency braking hazard lights and anti hijack door locks.

There was no way I could get both rear fog lights to work using latest and beta software from Ross Tech.

Bit definitons for bytes 3 & 4 of electronics module-09 were not there.

Need to dig deeper and find those bit definitions from somewhere.

Car still starts and runs !

BTW I'm not entirely dim, electronic and software engineer.

My stnadard halogen headlight equipped FL vRS has had the cornering foglights enabled by a friendly VCDS user, but he says he has not found a way of enabling both rear foglights. Nor has anyone else I've asked...

turn off annoying seat belt warning

I need to turn the seatbelt warning off - and badly. When I asked the dealer about it I was told it wasn't possible. I'd be happy if it binged at me while I'm moving, but listening to it while waiting for the glo-plug light to go out before the engine is even running is supremely annoying.

Mine doesn't do that. It doesn't start binging until the car has got to about 15mph, however, once it's started it doesn't stop til the seatbelt has been engaged. Maybe that's a change for the FL compared to the pre-FL

How long does it take your glowlight plug to go out? Even when it was -12 earlier this year I never had to wait more than a few seconds

On my FL vRS the warning bings start after about 10mph, but they do give up after about 90 seconds.
