Felicia Door lock Barrel

Featured Replies

The key in the drivers door lock just spins. Have removed the Barrel and discovered the ring/cam/spacer at the back of the barrel has broken. Skoda tell me that they no longer sell these seperately. I am reluctant to buy a new barrel as this will mean different keys. Is this item available anywhere else?. Is it used by any other vehicle?. So far a scrap merchant search has not returned to me with a second hand barrel that i can purchase.

send a PM to felicia16v, he's the man for spares, he has everything. EVERYTHING.

when you buy a new lock barrel from the dealer, they can supply them for your existing key set... but they are a little more expensive that the 'universal' ones

You can get a new or used barrel and use part of it to replace the broken part on yours, thus keeping the original key. Or you could get one from Skoda matched to your key, if you want to wait 4 weeks, which might not fit if the car has had a lock set in the past.

Thanks.

I realise I can do that but so far non of the scrap dealers have come back to me with a second hand barrel and I am reluctant to buy a new one for a 50p bit . Hence my question "is it used by any other vehicle".

hi no its skoda only i am afraid.. i have sent you a PM.

you could swap the lock for the passenger one with a bit of time i think. or at least you could with the older ones.

I had the same problem just before Christmas, its a simple fix,

just need to get hold of a second hand barrel and remove the circlip off the end,

then change the cam over, mine had snapped into 2 pieces and fallen off into the inside of the door frame,

then get the circlip back on again, (removal and refitting of the circlip without a circlip tool is pretty tricky but i managed it with a pair of pliers and a screwdriver :)

No need to mess around with the pins in the barrel etc,

Hope this helps :)

Hello, back again -

I have had no luck locating any second-hand locks, Felicia-specific, although a near-ish scrappy[new term for me and I like it  ]has other Skoda's but doesn't know if they'd do.

It's urgent now, as both locks have gone - had been using passenger side until last week's kaput moment. Can't lock car at all.

I'll have to remove the locks myself, which I'm prepared to try, but no point unless they're transferable.

Would it be acceptable for me, as newbie, to pm felicia 16v?

Hi,

I replaced the broken barrel on my Felicia with a dealer-supplied one, cost me £20 and it was made to fit my keys, so there is still only one pattern for all the locks.

However, I did keep the old setup as it was just the pins that were missing, the rest of the workings were fine (could unlock the car with anything that fitted in the hole!), if you're interested.

Hello Alex,

I'm not sufficiently clever to know whether or not they would help.

My helpers' mobs are off atm -have been trying to ask.

felicia16v also offered kindly to hunt for bits - he was just heading away for a great week over the water.

There may be some other skoda locks to cannibalise if they are interchangeable, but no answers on this point yet.

Thankyou again,

B

mine did this just the other day. as ive planned to fit remote central locking, i couldnt be bothered to visit my local scrappy to find a replacement part. instead, i have reshaped the end of the unlock rod, so that its now directly attached to the lock shaft, bit like how a com rod is attached to a crank if you see what i mean. (hard to explain without pics!)

i did this by making the round hole not so round using some pliers and a small needle file.

whereas before the the cam which sits on the end of the lock barrel would rotate round and move the unlock rod.

it makes the unlock action feel less pleasing, but it does work, and can be easilly reversed once you get the parts to fix it all.

rainbowfores lock spare lockset would fix you issue btw, as it will just be that can which has most likely snapped in half.

the other fix would be remote central locking, which is what i plan to do on mine

Thanks for reply - I think I understand, but this would not be a bit of simples for me and wrong would be so wrong i might make a bad situ worse.. My car has central locking now, i think: when I lock driver's door, all doors lock[when they work :S . Assume this is what is meant.

It's becoming urgent in terms of my being unable to use car for some pressing journeys.

Good morning all - having to use village college putah[have had no phone or i/net for 17 and 12 days respectively now and Primus can't seem to sort it out, their own systems being down when I phoned 2 days ago from neighbour's house, re: their 4 th '24>48 hours' broken promise.....that's a whole 'nother infuriation.]

It has meant I've been unable to search for cheaper cost than the £75+VAT+fitting that my fenboys have been able to come up with, although they've tried.

Passenger door was taken apart by Tom on Monday, but there was nothing he could bodge or resuscitate....Feeling besieged, money-hammered and helpless atm, being out of the communication loop.

College library computer available again Friday. If anyone has any ideas, I'll try and log in then if I still have nothing.

Please excuse pathetic moan tone of post.
