Subwoofer settings advice....

Featured Replies

Probably about a year ago I bought a subwoofer, second hand but in good condition off a customer who comes in our shop.

Little or no instructions with it, have been well impressed with it but every so often I'll fiddle with the settings on the back of it,

normally after a few beers. Never sure what I'm doing, anyone got any advice on 'roll-off' etc???

I've pasted a picture of the back of it with my current settings, apologies for the cobwebs :S

It seems a fine line between nice understated bass and fierce rumbling when adjusting the 'low level'

as you can see I've got that set near minimum, don't know how to use the settings against one another

to get the best out of it.

Any advice from hi-fi knowledgables would be appreciated...

Thanks

I believe the roll off frequency setting basically stops the sub outputting any frequency below the selected roll off setting.

Just twiddle the knobs until 2 unlimited causes an involuntary bowel movement.

best bet is to find out the settings for your other speakers. ie frequency ranges and get a bit of overlap so the sub takes over where the main speakers start to struggle.

Yep, someone at work said something similar, so the bass sounds like its coming from front speakers, rather than trampling all over them.

cheers
