Drive the Deal

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am going to order a new Roomster (but I thought I would get more response in this section) and having had poor service from my local Skoda dealer (I am still waiting on a Miami Blue Roomster ordered on 31st March 2010 - there is a problem with this colour apparently) I have decided to cancel and go through Drive the Deal as they will save me £700.

Most comments I have read in general have been positive about DtD but would gladly hear any experiences that Skoda owners have had with them.

Thanks in advance,

Matthew.

I have had a recent quote from them on a Nissan, which i didnt proceed with, but found them interested (which was more than the Nissan dealers were) very pleasant and seemed genuine. They get their stocks however from existing dealers which may serve only to move you from the frying pan to the fire...

I`m presently waiting on delivery of a new FL Fabia Elegance Estate which is taking rather a long time to transit to Leeds but having to be patient.....I think and the dealer seems to agree, that Skoda have been a bit too clever by half and introduced new models and engines, which generated a lot of interest at the same time as knocking the VAT off which is probably the best deal on a new car in the UK at present...As a result their factory and transport systems simply cant cope with the demand and angry punters are the result...

I honestly would doubt that Drive the deal would be able to find you one you want and when I got a quote from them for a Skoda their prices were higher than the dealers...Although your wait does seems excesssive..anyway best of luck

I bought my Fabia through Drivethedeal from a dealer in the London area ( I am not supposed to mention who but if you PM I will let you know) . The car was delivered on the back of a wagon. I would definitely use them again.

Why bother fighting with a sales man to try and get it cheaper when you can go to drivethedeal?

To be fair, youve only waited around 8 or 9 weeks so far. Its an 8 to 12 week wait for delivery usually from factory

Id have hung on personally, at least your car was in the order proccess, now youll have to start again or hope DTD can find you one, in which case youll probably end up with your original car ;)

But saving £700.

Thanks for the replies so far.

Actually, I didn't explain the situation fully. The colour I ordered (the one which is so enticingly used throughout the new Roomster catalogue) is Miami Blue, a new colour which replaces the Ocean Blue (I think it's called). It turns out there is some problem with Miami Blue and any cars ordered with the colour will not get a build week until week 30 which I make end of July, making a delivery date well into August. Even this date is not confirmed.

So I feel in a state of limbo not knowing when the car will arrive and am thinking of cancelling and changing to a black Roomster. The local Skoda dealer has not been on top of things and has not bothered to keep me informed. Every time I have had to call him to find out what is going on. I went with the dealer thinking I would get better service and DtD didn't have the new Skodas listed when I ordered at the end of March (not being sure that the VAT offer would be extended). I could re-order now and save £700.

So my dilemma is whether to cancel my order and start again. However, it seems delays are with many Skoda models and perhaps I am better sticking with my original order as at least it is in the system.

Annoyingly my MOT, tax and service are coming up in a few weeks on my Fabia which was to be a part exchange.

And my kids keep pestering me about this mythical Roomster!

Thanks again,

Matthew.

Reordering through DtD is only going to further delay your order as you'll be put back at the back of the already very long list of people waiting for cars to be built.

I've bought 2 cars from DtD - first was a Fabia. No issues either time.

I had a quote on a Fabia from them which was complicated by the fact that they couldn't recognise the model I was after, 105 CR Elegance manual. With the VAT free deal, two dealers came very close to the DtD price without being pushed so I suspect they could be pushed a little further if there's a deal to be done there and then. I'm not in that position just yet but it shows that it is possible to stay within the dealer network and still get a good deal. Hortons of Lincoln would be worth a call.
