Tyres

The Fabia vRS would probably benefit from less stiffness in the sidewall.

Can you change standard stock tyres of 205/45/16 to 215/40/16 as long as all 4 are changed?

I always thought it was as long as you have the same size on the axle. So you can have different sizes front and back.

legally they have to be the same on one axle, but can be different front to back.. e.g MGTF, lotus elise ect....

As the spare, it could be fitted to either side of the car, as needed. But it has a directional tyre which should only really go on one side of the car. So there's a 50% chance of it running 'backwards', hence the speed limit.

I thought that, but the Conti's don't appear to be directional - they just state which way round that they should be fitted on the rim - ie they have "outside" on the outer wall - can't see why?

Just been quoted £49.50 per wheel to get Kumho Ecsta's fitted. Is this a good deal and are they good tyres (they are going on the front!)?

what speed rating is the furby? A B C D E etc????

As it happens I had to tell my garage

Standard tyres are:

205/45 R16 83 W

I've bolded the speed rating letter in that

Well that's what they were on mine :) Factory-fitted Conti II Sports, dunno if the other brands were at the same speed rating, but it's most likely it's a highish letter.

Hope that helps :)

thats perfect.... i took the size down this morning, didnt even think of writing down speed rating!

cheers!

Glad I could help :) - had to go outside to take those figures down myself as the dealer's person I spoke to didn't know, kinda worrying IMHO, but hey, at least I'm gonna get the right tyres

how much u been quoted for 2??? - and what make?

Just been quoted
