Traction Control System

Featured Replies

Took the Octy vRS for it's mid week trundle tonight. The Traction Control Light came on briefly. The owner's manual says that 'the light flashes when driving if the system has activated a control cycle'.

I presume that it was just running some sort of a check?! Can anyone shed anymore light on the subject?

Otherwise all is well with just over 2000 miles on the clock (touch wood, fingers crossed etc!) :)

The light flashes when you wheels have lost traction and the system is working.

you mean you've managed 2000 miles without looseing traction?

I'm impressed with your self control....i seem to recall the light about 1998 miles before that :D

Apparently it has something called a 'turbo' too??!!! :D

With regards to the light coming on - the funny thing was that I was going along in a straight line at 30mph - I think there must have been some oil on the road :)

:D so that would explain the hissing noise...i thought that was SWMBO

It can be interesting when there's oil or diesel on the road..I had the sales manager out with me near Norwich and as we went round a roundabout (fairly quickly :D ) i found a diesel spill...the car went into quite an entertaining slide :D

No comment from boss ,I said bl--dy hell did you feel that?

feel what? was the reply-he didnt notice a thing

I also triggered the system today, in a straight line uner minimal acceleration like you. I think the roads are very slippery at the moment. Don't know whether oil or weather related, but certainly dangerous

It definitely wasn't freezing last night - so I can only think that it was oil or something like that.

Does 'the control cycle' simply mean that the system was operating or does it mean that it was doing some sort of test?

I haven't driven with it turned off yet...apparently it means you go through tyres rather quickly :D A quote from my local tyre place of around

I'm surprised the bulb hasn't warn out yet in this weather!

:iagree: :stupid:

first and second gear might as well not exist..i did get it on in third the other day

seems more grip in the rain...then in there greasy dam conditions....i never go hard enough around corner to get it to come one its always in straight lines...

Only 2000 miles on the clock so no chance of that yet!!! How's yours going - I seem to remember you got your one around the same time as me :)

5000 miles already on the clock, seems fine (runs off hug a tree) Had it since the end of September. The oil seems a little on the dirty side though.

200 miles for me :D:D:D

Wait, did you mean on a dry road or wet road? If wet, amend above to 0 miles - leaving dealers    :insane: :insane:

ASR - Skoda's way of introducing your face to the windscreen :D

If that fails, try DS2500 eh Geoff? ;)

Even scarier when diff lock kicks in. Made me cack my pants!!!

Diff Lock?!?!?! What happens and do all vRS's have them? (Excuse my ignorance)

Turn the traction control off, and boot it on a large roundabout with no traffic within 1/4 mile, ensuring you have lots of space around you.

The front wheels lock together as the EDL engages, and the car will understeer quite impressively!

If you crash, tough luck though.

Lift off and it all goes back to normal...

Also, if you pul away in a straight line with T/C off, you note both wheel spin, rather than just one.

That explains the interesting handling when I experimented with the TC off the other day :D

So does EDL actually make the car slide more

I thought the whole point of these packages was to remain in better control over the vehicle when it goes into a slide? Isn't EDL meant to help drive away in a pretty straight line when there is a lack of grip?
