Just a heads-up about a potential mis-pricing at Tesco.

I just picked up a 1 Litre tub of Castrol EDGE 5W-30 for £3.33 (they usually charge £16)!

This stuff meets VW 504 00 / 507 00 & 503 01 so will be useful to a few on here, e.g. Octavia vRS Variable Servicing oil / top-up.

Look out for the stuff with the older style Castrol EDGE packaging, it should have the following barcode number: 5 010321 000103

The newer packaged stuff is priced at the usual £16 and can be identifed with a red stripe at the front with a spiel on it about fully synthetic. The barcode also ends in 104....shove it out the way and dig to the back of the shelf to find all the older stuff with slighty different packaging.

The shelf price shows £16 but you can check at the self-service checkout. It was a 24-hour Tesco Extra in Alloa that I've already cleared out, but its worth checking your local one for the same stuff (at hopefully the same price).

Bummer - nearest Tesco Extra is 30 miles away :'(

Wow! You must use a lot of oil. I've used about half a litre to top up over the last 2 years (11,000 miles) in my 1.8TSI. Works out about £3 a year so far.

take 4 * 1L along to a service and that's a big discount on the oil

think this deal might well be finished by now!

Although I don't think GTX is any use in any modern skoda.
