Just a quick one, has anyone experienced a blown exhaust on thier VRS or diesel Skoda? After spending 3 days servicing, fixing ASR light etc it sounds now like the exhaust is blowing at the front somwhere now I've driven it. 100 miles. It's done 78k and 05 plate, Is this likely and common occurance?! Ta.

Easy check, with engine running, briefly hold a rolled up rag over the end of the exhaust tail pipe. Any blowing from front will be easy to hear. Don't hold the rag there too long or you may blow the head gasket.

As previous member has quoted, and add get front of car up onto ramps for easier access.

After all that Jazz, went to our friends at Kwik Fit and got it nicely raised on the ramps for me to have a 'free exhaust check'. Turned out the deep note (similar to that of a blowing exhaust) was due to a cracked and warped top section to the induction air box letting a lot of air in. Looks like a trip to the scrap yard for a new airbox or fit a K&N, thoughts anyone?

If you can't find on in your local scrap yards, try these: SkoSpares they are a specialist skoda scrap yard. However I would imagine an airbox from any VAG car will do. Also have a search for a Seat Ibiza Cupra PD160 one and intake pipe.
