Wishbone bushes

Featured Replies

Had my vRS in for a service yesterday. I knew some bushes were needing replaced as I get the odd clunk now and again. The garage said that the wishbone bushes are starting to crack.

I've read on here about console bushes being replaced by ibiza cupra tdi bushes. Are the wishbone bushes also known as console bushes?

Yep, cupra ones are the best choice for replacing as they sharpen up the steering and are cheaper but they do increase road noise somewhat

the rear wishbone bushes are the console bushes..they have front bushes as well..

So for me to have all bushes replaced I would need 4 in total?

Cool, thank you.

Best place for uprated bushes is? From Seat or somewhere like AwesomeGTi?

MoggyTech (who in my opinion knows what he's talking about) says there are updated solid Skoda bushes now and they are better than the Cupra ones.

is this right? as i am looking to change mine next week, someone else said to me that skoda have a new revised version of the bushes having 4 points of rubber in them instead of the 2 which are the stock ones fitted in our cars when they left the production line. the cupra ones would be better for a person who likes to drive a bit harder from time to time im guessing, that'll be me :giggle: think il buy the cupra ones still

if u want to buy them the part number is 6LL 129 618 about 8.29 each

What you quoted above....thats the part number for the new Skoda console bushes right? or i'm thinking that could be the part number for the PD160 air trumpet perhaps?

because the part number for the Seat/Audi console bushes is 6LL 407 183

:giggle: sorry bud my bad ye that number u posted is correct

saw my new cupra bushes today they have a metal inner and full rubber surround (hex bit for lower arm to slot in) and metal outer(which i guess holds it in the console unit) hopefully this will eliminate the movement when going down uneven roads or when i put the power down!

got my cupra bushes today, is it wort fitting the front bushes at the same time as the rear, don't read a lot of poeple doing this just wondered whether you should or are the rear cupra ones sufficient?

Not really heard of the front bushes ever failing, just the rears of the wishbone. I had mine replaced at the same time though while it was out with the powerflex ones as they don't really cost much more

No idea if they made a difference to anything, but i'd guess not :p

cheers cheese made sense in my head if you repace the back why not do the front but if there not needed, save money for re-map :)

well if your capable of removing the arms yourself keep the ones u have as they will last a lot longer and later take them off and then change them but if your not that handy or cant take them off yourself for some reason and garage doing the work for you then i would change them also while the arms are off, save you paying 2 labour fees and will make peace at mind as you know they have been changed.
