Does / can a remap remove the speed limiter for a higher top speed?

(where safe to do so of course)

I didnt think Skodas had them, My Octy certainly hasnt as its been off the clock in top

'Supposed' to be fitted to higher end Audi's but I know of a fair few S4/RS4/6's that have been well past 155 mph (on a private road of course)

So getting over 127mph on an unmodified Furby VRS is possible to be honest, I've never found a private road long enough to get over 127mph yet

Whats the quickest folks here have been able to make them go both unmodified and modified..?

I don't think an unmodified Furby will do more than 127 true mph. The most Autocar managed to get out of their long term car was 126 at Millbrook. Not ever had the opportunity to go that fast myself, I don't own many roads, and I would never go that fast on the public roads for fear of getting caught..

and off the clock now its Revo'ed

altho im not sure what the deal is with the newer Fabias with the lower ratio gearbox... theoretically it shouldnt make a difference, but with powerbands etc. im not too sure

Ross, is it true that if the maximim rev limit is exceeded - ie the rev counter goes into the red range - then that fact is logged in the ECU and the warranty is voided?

Really Colin, must have been some 1.4, mind you the driver claimed he topped 160kmh on the GPS to catch you

Denis, yes it is. Need to be on the limiter for approx 5 seconds or more - it writes a code (can't remember what it is) with the definition "maximum engine revs exceeded - WARRANTY VOID. Had it on my old "1.4"

Just to share......my 01 Fab 1.4 8v DOES have a cut off....@ 6k revs...I do quite often actually.....especially in 1st........and I can confirm that it does cut off @ 6k

I clocked 170 kmh just this afternoon ....on a long stretch of expressway in Malaysia actually.........

If you check in VAG-COM, after the "Maximum engine revs exceeded - WARRANTY VOID" error message, you get a smiley face

If you raise the rev limiter when you re-map the car does it give that message if you exceed the old rev limit or does it wait till it hits the limiter on the new one ????????

Oh yes seen a few of them messages when i was at AmD, allways made me chuckle.

Usually that function is bypassed when remapped, doesnt appear after then. So its either deleated or pushed up higher, not sure which one.
