Changing to S from D whilst driving.

Featured Replies

Hello All,

Not having had that much experience of driving automatic cars in the past. Please can someone tell me whether or not you can shift the DSG to S from D whilst driving? Or do you need to be stopped until you select S from the D position? Or will this damage the gearbox?

Thanks in advance for answers.

You can swap between the two whenever you like when driving - would be a right royal pain in the @rse if you had to stop each time you wanted sports mode or vice versa

As above, and you can also flip to tip control as well if you want without having to do anything more than push the lever away from you.

The beauty of any automatic car is that it wont let you do anything that it doesnt like. Just remember to drop it into neutral if your going to be stood at train crossings, motorway traffic jams etc.

Only one expection - you can during driving also change to P or R, but I do not recommend it :giggle:

I often go from D to N inadvertently when driving, all that happens is a serious increase in revs due to my foot being heavy.... :giggle:
