Skoda Brochures!

Featured Replies

If anybody has bought a car recently and something is missing which was listed in the brochure as standard please report it to:http://www.consumerdirect.gov.uk/contact Make sure it is logged and it will be passed on to your local Trading Standards Office. My local Office are pursuing these problems with Skoda UK.7.gif

My local dealer, Allams of Epsom, have been very helpful. I am pleased with the service from James and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. In fact, I've just ordered a Fabia Estate for my wife. It remains to be seen of course what equipment it actually comes with! :D

Skoda has plenty of disclaimers as any other company has that changes to specifications can be made without notice.

Usually a problem (usually minor) only happens when a car is built in a different period to the brochure you are looking at.

If you are that paranoid, you should write your specification down into your contractual agreement. (e.g. "as per brochure dated xx.xx.xx")

Dealers and Skoda UK are usually pretty good if a customer has an issue.

It is an interesting subject. At what point would you have a claim against Skoda? You have to have something to go on when you order your new car i.e. I want climate control and I want a height adjustable drivers seat and if the brochure lists these then you could be expected to presume these will be on your car when delivered. However when you get into your new car and you find no climate (no aircon at all) and the drivers seat only goes back and forth, can Skoda reasonably expect you to take this on the chin? These are only examples.

Are these disclaimers able to stand up in a court of law? Just because the brochure says they can change the spec at any time without warning doesn't mean that if they deliver a car with £2k less equipment than you paid for this is legal.

Seperate from the folks who've been done out of folding mirrors etc. what are the actual mistakes in the catalogue, i'd be happy to collate and fire an email to Skoda UK then follow up on it to make sure the info got to the right place?

Octavia Brochure --

faults:

- new 2.0 TSi Vrs listed as 200bhp, it's engine code CCZA which is 208bhp (the old tfsi, engine code BWA was 200bhp)

- Folding wing mirrors on elegance spec debacle

improvements:

- variable boot floor picture

One would assume then, by your post, that you have taken delivery of a Skoda (a Yeti?) that had some equipment missing that was listed as standard in the brochure. Would you care to enlighten us as to what this equipment is?

Hi Dave,

think from posts elsewhere in Briskoda RedDog is having issues with a Superb II and missing HHC :(

Are you sure it's got 208bhp? Skoda says it's 147Kw which is 200PS (197.5 bhp)

From this page

Engines A 2.0 TSI petrol engine with a power output of 147 kW and a diesel “common-rail†2.0 TDI CR DPF/125 kW are some of the very best in their categories and guarantee exceptional experiences behind the steering wheel.

Yeah i'm definately sure, Skoda's wrong, boo  The 147kw is the TFSI, the 155kw is the TSi.

All these folks getting intercoolers and boost hoses, i jumped my output by 8hp and all i did was read the engine manual :giggle: . What a difference it's made too, can really feel the 8bhp after reading it too :giggle:

Yes, but once they've made the changes they've got to make reasonable attempts to inform prospective buyers. If not, it is a potential criminal offence let alone contravening civil law. I won't be taking your "legal advice" ;)

The only "problems" I have seen on this forum are the spare wheel deletion and folding mirrors both affecting the Octavia. IIRC most people had their problem sorted by the dealer - they got a spare wheel or compensation or offer of order cancellation.

Only one forum member ranted incessantly about his spare wheel, and that was pretty clear he had an old brochure.

I think your being rather petty and I'm pretty certain no criminal law is involved here. (Try phoning the police and complaining that your spare wheel is missing)

Are you a troll? Must you post the same thing in every forum?
