A White Charger

Featured Replies

I didn't realise that WRC ltd edition had the bigger spoiler and different grille.

I saw one at the dealer I got my RS from; probably the stickers (urgh!) which distracted me!

Looks good; pity they didn't bung in tuned verison of the RS engine.

That`s the one...........Those pictures don`t do it justice, but they are good

The WRC spoiler isnt a Skoda accessory , its probably a Milotec or similar , bought from JH Butt and fitted by the owner , as , probably , is the new sport front grille.

The grille and the WRC spoiler are indeed from Butts. The paintshop that painted and fitted the spoiler were seriously unimpressed with the quality of it though. Its glassfibre and very heavy (comes with uprated struts for the tailgate) but the quality of the moulding gave them a lot to do to get the lovely finish it now has.

The car (Sept 02) is very different from my previous vRS (Jan 02) sold at 9 months old and 20,000 miles. The steering has much more feel, and the ride/handling is a lot sharper. I always felt that steering on the first car was too vague and that it felt like it 'tipped' into corners on occasion. The tyres are different OE to the first car which probably helps.

The dark headlining also makes the cabin feel better, heated seats are a novelty that will probably never get used in Cornwall but the xenon lights are excellent. :D

eliseport,

thanks for the info on your WRC; looks great in the pics.

The dealer who I got my RS from had WRC in the showroom; he said is had uprated suspension which may true from your experience.

I personally feel that the standard RS' (God that makes it sound tame!) steering could do with more feel and is too light. The suspension is good compromise between ride and handling (for me) though.

The OE tyres are too noisy and don't really inspire confidence; I'l get something wels ewhen they need replacing.

Cheers.

Adrian.

I have had the misfortune of driving a Fabia recently. If you think the steering is light on an RS, you'd probably do as I did and perform a full U-turn when just trying to go into a side street

I might be exagerating a little, but the power steering on the Fabia is definitely set at "girly" mode. I was more than happy to get my (v)RS back.

BTW, this is not another pop at Fabia owners... I just happened to have a naff machine for too long and it has soured my opinion of "little" cars.

As I said a "decent" bunch over at Lambs and they have always tried to help and been really friendly whenever we've been getting our Fabia serviced etc. Steve even put up with us going to see him about three times before we finally purchased and was also the first to let us know they had a Tdi estate available for test drive.

Next time I'm passing I may just call in and see if he's around and has got used to his newfound fame! Other than that I'll wait until the next service which will probably be around March time (the car is currently clocking up about 25k a year).

Cheers

Just out of interest , what make are the tyres on your WRC and what kind did you have on your older RS? My RS is an early car (registered JUL 01) and has conti sport contact 205/50/17s fitted.

PS if i didnt say it before your car looks excellent! The body shop who struggled to fit the spoiler well have done a gr8 job!

Thanks for the kind comments on the car.

The tyres on this one are Dunlop SP3000's

Elisesport

Are they 205/50s or 225/45s? ..and did you have the contis on your 1st RS?

Cheers

Duncan
