A White Charger

Featured Replies

I have just seen the most awesome vRS ever. Pearing through the show room glass of a skoda dealer was a colour coded totally white rs, with all the extra goodies of the ltd. ed. but without the stickers, Xeron lights, washers, heated seats etc. Had to have a closer look. Whilst wipeing down my front and if by magic the salesman appears, "I can do you a deal on that he says",

On a similar subject I noticed when I took my Fabia in for service last week that my local (decent) dealer in Chesterfield has three RS's... one Red, one Black and one White with rally graphics. Unfortunately I can't remember the prices though!

Would be interesting to see a totally white RS, can you get any pics of it?

(yes, I'm biased, on my third white car)

I`ll try and talk the salesman into letting me take some pics. How do you keep a car like that clean and those white rs wheels with brake dust on them. Still the car did look tuff, i can just see myself :driving:

I'll bring a tin of thinners with me on the 15th and we could take the stickers off 66's see what it looks like  :nono:

the uzi is packed, and ready to go.

:nono:

Skomaz,

Is it Gordon Lambs? That's where my car has been ordered from. I've been meaning to go over and ask all sorts of nerdy questions about variable sevicing and coil packs (still don't really know what they are  ). This could be the perfect excuse!

You say they are 'decent'. That's good to know.

However, I'm driving up to Keighley at the weekend to visit my first love. :D There's a garage there who have got a 1966 VW Beetle 1200 with only 12,000 miles on the clock. Yours for just

Mmmm, nice '66 eh? that'll be a 6volt bug with the slightly smaller rear window (not the Oval) classy.

I understand your commitment to bugs, I had a '70 1500 semi-auto, a '69 1200, a '72 Variant auto, and a '73 bus (rotted to the spot that one, last seen being used as a greenhouse in a friend's alotment)

The Variant was my favourite as it had a huge boot in the front and the back ! I used to sleep in it when we went camping as the heat used to radiate up from the engine compartment to keep you warm !

I've always liked VW's, they had real character, but the new Bug is decidedly poncy imho. Of course I can't wait for the new camper van to come out in 2004, could well be tempted there.

Let us know what the '66 bug is like, perhaps a few pictures?

I'll certainly let you know what it's like and why it's only got 12k miles on the clock. There is one picture on www.bockinggarage.co.uk but it's not too clear.

I do have one of those silly matchbox size digital cameras bought as a 'toy' so I'll have a go at that but how on earth do you post pictures on the forum?

Rich.

4x4,

Can't believe I just asked you that, got to 'The Lounge' and you don't know either!

You got a very cryptic reply... :?

Rich,

Yep it's Lambs... They are far better than that slimy bunch at Bickertons in Sheffield. We went there when we were thinking about the Fabia (and will never go there again!) but they gave the impression that they had the market cornered as they were the only dealer in Sheffield at the time. So it was back to Lambs to purchase.

Who have you dealt with there... Is it Steve?

Also whereabouts are you Rich and what's your current ride?

Cheers

Skomaz,

My new motor will be 'aquired' through a third party but they are getting it from Lambs and as it's on Contract Hire with no servicing option I'll be taking it to Gordon Lambs for that. Any warranty issues will also be dealt with by them. Hopefully such an issue will never occur...which leads me onto...at the moment I'm driving a Golf but you'll have to speak up, I can't hear you over the noise of the dashboard rattling.

We're up in Crookes...we've had snow for the last week...I've got some friends in Lodge Moor and we haven't seen them since October!

When I get the RS I'll seek you out 'cos I'm going to want to show it to EVERYBODY! :D

Ahh good old VW Bugs eh? Ive also had 3 of these cars , a 69 1300 , a 73 GT (Apple Green) and a 74 1303 'Campaign Edition' AKA 'Chocolate Bug'! I still love them now and would love another someday , but that one sounds dear , id want a good Oval for that (even though the milage is tiny). Bocking Garage always seem to get good examples of classics in tho...maybe in 20 yrs time they will have a cherry Tavia RS in stock!

It's interesting that many of us seem to have some history with old VeeDubs. And now we're all driving Skodas (except me, the tension is unbearable!).

Do you really think we'll go all misty eyed about a vRS in 2038? (Eee remember them coil packs...I got through loads of 'em from some dodgy fella I had to meet in a layby on the M6...do you remember the M6...urrr I think I've ****ed meself...nurse...)

Maybe it's because Skoda (even though it's part of the VAG family) bears a similarity to what VW used to be? I'm not getting sentimental about VW, obviously markets change and a company has to adjust or go under, but lots of people laughed at Beetles and lots of people laugh at Skodas. Sorry guys, they do. Driving a car like an Octavia or Fabia shows that you are willing to consider alternatives but not compromise on what features you want whether it's performance or comfort. Fair enough Beetles, Variants, Ghias weren't exactly rapid but they were a damn site better than what else was available at the time.

Thoughts?

White vRS?

A bit gay...

I spent ages on that and that's the best you can come up with!

Hmm...im not sure that the air cooled dubs were better than the competition in their latter years , but certainly in the period 1945-mid to late 50s they were. I still consider the 57 oval to be the best looking VW Beetle ever produced (ill have one in Coral Red with fenderskirts and whitewalls please!) What the attraction was to me about aircooleds was that they were DIFFERENT , eccentric even , that was why i chose to own them , it was the camaraderie of ownership too , the flash of lights and wave from other 'dubbers as you passed was like being in an exclusive club , and only a select few knew how good membership could be! I suppose that there is a similarity between the ownership of a Bug and a Skud (after all both companies' 'heritage' models were rear engined!) but i think the best thing about having a Skoda is that badge snobs hate them! That is reason enough to love them as i love getting up these peoples noses!.....Skud Jam 2003 at Santa Pod anyone? :P

Just got back from Keighley (with a stop off at DM Keith(?) in Bradford to stroke an RS). The Beetle was absolutely mint!

I don't think this is 'Briskoda General' stuff so if anyones interested I'm moving over to the 'Lounge'.

Rich.

:D

I have one of the white vRS its number 97/100 and it doesn't have the decals or the green bumpers! I have fitted the WRC rear wing and chipped it with the Green induction kit (Golf 4 fitting)

This is my second vRS having had a red one originally.

Photos available on request!

Welcome to briskoda elisesport.

I run a uk skoda website, and if you like you can send me some pics to [email protected] and I can put them online for all us vRS and other skoda owners to look at. My website is in the sig below, as you will see nearly everyone here with a few exeptions has their car on my site.

Rich,

Would be great to see your RS... Let me know when the happy day occurs! I'm over in Beauchief so not far. No snow as yet because of the lower altitude so you'll not need to change your order to a 4x4!

It's funny that you should post today. I went over to Gordon Lambs to ask 'nerdy questions' and met the Steve you referred to in your previous post. What a nice guy! I ended up with a handful of business cards to cover every eventuality when I get my RS. The whole team seemed very helpful, quite refreshing.

I mentioned you but obviously didn't know your name (find an excuse to take your motor in...you never know). I also put them onto Briskoda.net and Steve was chuffed that he was mentioned on the internet!

I saw the 'rally' Octavia but like a complete doofus forgot to ask 'how much?' It did look quite vicious.

Rich.

Sorry. Meant to say February 1st.
