No heatshield in my kit either. I had a quick measure up, gonna knock one together out of a piece of mirror finish stainless I think.

Hopefully on my car it won't be too loud, as it is standard apart from the induction, so running less boost than yours vRSy.

what about the end of the filter, is there anything between the filter and the front panel?

No nothing between filter and front panel.

that is strange though isnt it, because their demonstration one on the S3 looks like it has a heat shield and ducting. ducting im not bothered about, but the heat shield is a big issue. hot intake air tmp = loss of horsepower

There are a couple of heat shields here for the Evoms and here for the BSH.

Thats an outrageous price for what is essentially a small piece of folded stainless!!

Sy, I have a mate who could probably knock you something up, he could use my Evoms heat shield as template.

you've got my attention there mate :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

can you let me know how much please

If its a 70mm neck then I would have to order a filter in, but its still £36.99 + Vat :) The heatshield would take 15 mins to make!

Hey Si,

If you installed the MAF upside down, it would run like an absolute dog and stall on idle.

I know this coz I was stupid enough to install your old ITG MAF pipe the wrong way around thus puttin the MAF upside down. Thought I'd give it a try to see if it would be OK. It wasn't!

If you want to try a cone in the end, I have a near new Apexi dual funnel job that the Jap scene / Scooby guys seem to rate. Not sure if it will be any better for you though.

Your welcome to have it but will have to wait a couple of weeks as I am in Majorca getting pi55ed up at the month. Lol

I measured up and designed a heatshield for this. If I draw it up on Autocad/Solid Edge I can send it over to you if you like?

I'll try and get it drawn this weekend.

I have ordered a Jetex open filter for my venom kit as the diameter of the pipercross is too big physically to fit properly on the Octavia bay IMHO.

Its always pressing against some coolant pipes beneath it and it touches the bonnet soundproofing, so there is no where for the filter to move when the engine moves.

We get discount off Jetex filters if you ring Jetex direct, ask for Neil and mention Briskoda, Bonus!

Mine should be delivered tomorrow. :smirk:

i'd take you up on that offer dave  , ill log the two filters back to back see how they both perform. should hopefully have some ducting in and a heatshield on the go by that point. hope your enjoying your hols, must be annoying paying for all that sun when were getting it for free here :giggle:

mate if you can get that drawn on autocad and email it to me, i can see if i can persuade one of the fabricators to knock some up for us. if you use the engine mounts, as the securing point it will make it easy as well

how much??

It came to £41 including VAT and delivery, the RRP for the filter alone is £41, so free delivery really.

It's ER-07002, cylinder shape 202mm long, 100mm diameter and good for 311bhp. If the intake pipe was about 50mm longer I would have ordered a cone shape with a bigger diameter but the battery is in the way.

Here is the venom fitted, but IMHO the filter is too big and presses against the bonnet and coolant pipes:

Here is the pipercross filter next to the Jetex/JR filter:

I haven't got VAGCOM so no logs I'm afraid, but the Jetex one sounds fantastic, shame I didn't get chance to drive with the pipercross on.

What are the bits I've highlighted mate?

Standard engine cover and uprated filter FTW :peek: :giggle:

Pagey1255,

It's a BSH High capacity catch can, I got it from a group buy on mk5golfgti.co.uk. It supposedly stops the intake valves from getting gunked up, which can be a problem on direct injection engines.

Thats the large capacity BSH stage 2 catch can PCV revamp.

edit-beat me to it :giggle:

i must admit, my pipercross filter wasnt rubbing on any tubing or pipes, plus i dont have any sound proofing on my bonnet

Mine was rubbing the pipes where I have circled in red, my catch can pipes made no difference to where the filter sat though. Also where the locating lug is (red arrow), it wasn't straight but angled slightly down.

Is your locating lug like this? Have you got any pics of the kit fitted?

mine doesnt have that little lug, it was missing.

If any members want a copy of the drawing I have done for a heat shield, then pm me your email address, it's a dwg file.
