How far will £20 get you

Featured Replies

Hi Guys

Just wondering how many miles £20 will get you, average driving, so cruising with a couple of full throttle overtakes.

I put £20 Monday morning from 10 miles in the tank, so the clock went to 190 miles in the tank. My work from home is 13 miles each way, so roughly 25/26 miles a day, with the odd 2 miles to the supermarket, but i'm now on 80 miles? Air filter is nice and clean.

Does this sound right, or is it all in my head? I'm averaging about 45-55mpg, but the tank seems to be shooting down.

I'm getting about 400-450 miles to a tank £45 thats mostly motorway cruising but i do this in 1 week

I get anything from 170-215ish for £20.

I'm lucky to see anymore than 150 miles from £20 in mines, doesn't matter how i drive as it's mostly mixed motorway and town driving i do

I used to get that to £15 of diesel and over 200 from £20 before the prices went up

When diesel was back at just over £1 a litre I would reckon at 100 miles per £10. So maybe 160/170 for £20 now...

i got from 162 miles from 20 quid was motorway most of that tho get about 110 around town

Cheers for the replies, think its just in my head them.

The range goes up when you drive nicer Which is annoying as hell. Wish I could do 200 miles on £20. Lord slayeth the 1.4mpi.

I started about 30 miles into redlight, put £20 in, and i'm currently 200 miles in and just off the red light. Not bad going IMO, and that was with a massive backroad blast the other day...110 miles of it was just 50-60mph driving on A roads though, averaged 68mpg (on the clock) for that journey...

£5.50p a gallon...£20 = 3.6 gallon

prob average 50/gallon so 50 x 3.6 = 180 ish miles for £20 ...

:whew:

not on £20 but on a trip to the nurburgring a month ago 3 people + bagage + 2 laps of the ring a total of 1340 miles cost me 2 tanks of V-Power so approx £125 so by that 223.3 miles to £20

so av 62 mpg...good going that...

i thought so at the moment i can get approx 400 miles to a tank around town driveing allday every day  so thought i should be able to do 600 miles which is the distance from here to the ring one way it even better than i expected it was great fun when the group i was leading kept flashing me to stop so they could re fuel pmsl esp my mate in the BMW M3 they drink like a fish and my fabia is remaped as well maybe helped with the mpg?

aye will have helped...albeit slightly

on a FULL tank i get anything from 500 miles to 280-300 miles. i never let it go into red though, its rare that my cars fuel light comes on..

i have got a heavy foot though....!

wish i had the spare cash to get it properly remapped to my liking (more torque but more mpg too) but i'm a long way off that yet.

you need to change out of 1st gear :giggle:

i wouldnt mind, when i drive 'easy' i change gear at around 2k revs.

caning it is another story though. its the kind of car you just cant help playing with - it surprises quite a few drivers!

I took this on mine a few weeks ago.....

that pic is easy to get - reset it to '0' and drive steady down a hill, you'll be able to get a pic that shows you doing over 100 mpg, easily!! :giggle:

dam a miss my Fabia for the mpg lol

this thread has depressed me, a struggle to get 26-29 mpg in my Mazda3 Mps @ £1.25 for tesco 99!!

£20 gets me about 100miles

Never tried that......that is a genuine reading.....steady early morning drive on the motorway.

what engine code is yours?

A full tank gets me around 300 miles, consistently. So £20 probably gets me around 150-160 miles.

Also depends how far you run after the reserve light comes on. I tend to often fill up when the beep's just gone off. It's also rare that I just stick £20 in it. Then I can also calculate the MPG properly, using the brim-to-brim method.

But I reckon about 170 miles worth for me.

Think I've had my best ever on my current (now, nearly empty) tank... 490miles.. I normally get around 450 - 470.

I drive well past the beep.. The beep is where I switch to miles left in tank on the computer.. have been down to 5 but that did make me very nervous, normally fill up when computer says around 20.

I do the click to brim method and work it out by miles covered per liters filled.. you can see my average in my sig.

So I guess £20 would be about 3.5 gallons? so 160 - 170ish?
