Big end bearing dimensions - a catalogue?

Featured Replies

OK, bit of a weird one. I've got a bike (TDM 850) which I bought with a seized engine, and it needs the crank reground and new bearings - simple enough.

Except YAMAHA don't make any undersize bearings; to them the crank is scrap. And at £500 it's not an option.

BUT I've heard that there are a couple of possible options from the car world - an early Civic big end bearing shell set, plus ones from a VW Polo with HH engine using a .75mm undersize.

Does anyone know of a catalogue where I can look up bearing dimensions? I've tried the manufacturers I can think of (Glacier, Vandevell), and their websites give no dimensional information on anything at all; obviously I could order a set up and see what size they are but that could get expensive! If anyone has a link to where I can find sizes (Big end dimensions, crank pin dimensions) then that would be wonderful.

<Insert joke about Big ends here>

Mahle have a pretty good online cat Here If you know what engine your needing. HTH

You, sir, are a wonderful man! That's just the thing I was looking for, and it turns out that the HH engine part IS the right dimension! Bike may be saved yet!

Thanks again, Graham!
