Advice on selling my VRS

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I have advertised my car for sale in Auto Trader, but have not had a single interested buyer in 3 weeks.

I thought the second hand market had a lack of cars at the moment! Doesn't seem to be the case.

I have offers from dealers, but the are really low and the Skoda dealer advised me to sell it privately and get more money for it.

It's just sat there unused at the moment and I want to find a good home for it.

Any help/advice appreciated.

Matt

Pistonheads?

I'm trying to sell mines aswell, it's currently on pistonheads and a few other forums. I've had some interest and one guy wanting to buy it till he discovered I'm in Scotland and it's cheaper for him to buy one more local due to the distance :( But mines been up for 5 days now I think so still early days yet

Definately would try pistonheads though and maybe eBay aswell? I'm gonna put mine up tonight

I have to say that there are some truly amazing valuations on vRS's at the moment. One ad I saw recently had a 2003 car with 85K miles up for £5000. The car was basic spec so it would have been roughly £11,000 new so the seller was looking for 45% of the car's new value at 7 years old with average mileage.

Most cars are considered to be doing very well if they do 50% at 3 years and average mileage.

I am looking for about 40% of original list price for a 4 year old car which seems about right to me. Still no takers though.......... :-(

It is on Pistonheads, but only the free advert at the moment. Might spend the £15 to upgrade though.

As for eBay, I looked at previous listings for Fabia vRS and most private auction listings don't seem to meet the reserve. The only one that has sold recently went for well below book price.

If I was buying a replacement car, it would be easier to haggle on price for the replacement with part-ex to get a good price but I gave been given a company car so the Fabia is no longer needed. It is very much missed though as I have a boring rep-mobile now!

Well I'm looking to buy a vrs as soon as possible to replace my clio 172 as it's drinking a bit much fuel on my new work commute. So if anyone wants to tell how much they are looking for and where they are, maybe a pm if that's more appropriate.

James

How about spending £12 to "upgrade" on Briskoda and put a proper advert up? ;) This thread is being seen as a construed "for sale" thread by a non freedom member, so apologies if it disappears later....

eBay is the way forward dude.
