0 - 60 with shark stage 1 ?

Featured Replies

Hi all

Got a 2010 FL VRS estate ( in blue of course ) and currently pondering on getting the shark stage 1 remap.

Am I right in thinking the 0-60 time on this will be around 7 seconds and if this is the case what would it be after the stage 1 ?

Any thoughts welcome.

Cheers

Paul.

The standard 0-62 time for the vRS estate is about 7.5 seconds for the TFSi, with the newer TSi I would expect no more than a couple of 10ths if anything. Obviously being Blue it will be slower........ :giggle:

Most stage 1 maps will increase performance to anywhere between 235 - 250 bhp depending on the company you use, I can't give you a definative 0-60 time but if you check out the attached youtube it will give you some idea, iirc Ben's is running stage 2+ maybe even the elusive stage 3..................but regardless of times its more about the mid-range grunt that the massive torque increases will give you.

Good luck HTH, Lee.

I have had my vRS done by Ben, he thinks in the region of 255 bhp ( mine is the newer TSI model and can handle more power)

I have never really done any 0-60 tests in it but the difference is absolutely amazing, it pulls like a train all the way to the redline, but to be honest because of all the extra power I hardly go past 5k!

Get it done, you know it makes sense! :giggle::rofl:

I'm not suprised by this as the TFSi engine is 197 bhp and the new TSi is 208 bhp iirc, with regards to the remap, I totally agree with vtec to vrs, do it! you won't believe the difference, and you certainly won't be disappointed.

If you really want to better your 0-60 times.. go down the route of vinyal .. .. vinyal always adds more performance

You certainly will notice the difference when Ben takes you for a test drive in it too!:o

To be honest I don't definively know how it would improve 0-60 times, but you're welcome to come and have a trial if you'd like?

My car has the Shark stage 1. I havent timed 0-60 but the big gain is as stated above. The mid range times like 30-70 are drastically reduced emoticon-0103-cool.gif I wouldnt worry about how quick your car gets to 60. The limiting factor is that the car is front wheel drive. For exampe the new Focus RS tuned by GGR to almost 400bhp doesnt get to 60 any quicker than the standard car. Purely because it cannot transmit the power to the road when starting. However the big difference is when the car is moving and that leaves the standard RS in its wakeemoticon-0136-giggle.gif 0-60 are pub talk figures and dont really count for much other than bragging rights. The key times are 30 to 70 (normal overtaking speeds) and my car sure gets past HGVs with ease!

Agree with the above!

Similarly motorway driving is much better, I can now just stay in 6th and the car still pulls fantastic to overtake from 70

stage 2+ saw me getting low 6 seconds(stop watch) the problem being traction and not the power. 0-60 is for pub bragging, 30-70 etc is where its at in all the gears. I advise you to time your car as standard from 30-70, in 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th. get tthe stage 1 and watch seconds come off of them

I agree with the above posts. I drive the 1.8TSI (Shark Stage 1)and my 30-70 through the gears dropped from around 7.2 secs to around 5.5 secs and 30-50 in 3rd dropped from 3.9 secs to 3 secs (all timed with stopwatch so not that accurate). Getting all the power down without wheelspin is very difficult, even in this warm weather and just brings you to the attention of Mr Plod!

Remaps are all about flexibility not drag racing.

Thanks for the replies guys

Not interested in the whole 0-60 bragging thing, just curious about what difference it made.

Agree with what you all say about the mid-range thing which is where is counts in the real world. :)

Now just to put a few more miles on the new car before I pick up the phone and dial Ben.............. :D

Whack on some good tyres, they could be worth up to a second on a sprint to 60.

I think the TSI is still only 197bhp in the vRS.

Your 0-62 times won't be that much different (maybe half a second so about 6.7 as standard is 7.2)

As a rough rule of thumb you need 50bhp & 50lb/ft to knock about half a second off. HOWEVER you also need to be able to put that power down. So you will see around 40ish bhp and abut 70/lbft.

Im on stage 2+ and can only manage about 6.2-6.3 0-62mph. However i can go from 50-100mph in 4th gear in 7.4 seconds. I can also go from 50-70 in 6th gear in 4.9 seconds (standard is 7.8 secs)

So as stated previously the mid range is where you will notice it and lets be honest unless you want to sit doing traffic light grand prix's every day, then the mid range is where you want the power.

The car being FWD means unless you feed the power in you will sit spinning your wheels while slower cars get the jump on you

I think the TSI is still only 197bhp in the vRS.

Just looked at the Skoda site and they don't list the TSi engine. :wonder: Looking on the Shark site Ben has the TFSi as 200 ps and the TSI 211 ps?!

I think the TSI is still only 197bhp in the vRS.

You could be right, there's a bit of a discrepancy with the same engine code being used for 200 and 211PS cars but I've just checked Elsa and it says 147kW - 200PS.

I'll get that edited.

Ben does this Help you?

This is a graph of a Stock TSi vRS

YBA_big.gif

I don't know that there is a difference between the VW Version & the Skoda version. All i can think is the VW Heads have told Skoda to market it at a slightly lower power to help sell the GTi.

211PS is 208bhp so that Stock car is not far off ( and i think it only had about 200 miles on it when that was done iirc)

It's difficult to say with dyno stuff.. some cars put a little more out than standard etc. I'll go with what's in Elsa and change it to 200PS as per the TFSI
