Rear wash/wipe

Featured Replies

I've noticed, particularly since we've not had much rain down here, that the rear washer jet is pretty pathetic and only squirts half way up the rear screen so only the bottom of the area swept by the wiper gets cleaned. Is this working as designed, or is there a problem? :)

Cheers Andy! Time to check for leaks then :D

Chris

Can you not adjust the nozzle angle? Never looked on my one as it works fine.

Have check by the bulkhead on th epassenger side as that's where the pipes normally come adrift.

Hmmmm. I've had the same thing too, Chris! It does seem to go higher at faster speeds though. ;) 100mph+ rear wash wipe only for me then! :D

mine squirts hight but its freaking useless

Thanks for the input guys! I'll check the pipe connections as that's the easiest thing to check and then I'll just make sure the nozzle on the back isn't blocked or anything silly ;) And Jase - that's an interesting thought. Most of the time I use it is at motorway speeds and I've not noticed it being any better. Time for some scientific tests :D

I had this (or something similar) once. It turned out to be the little plastic cap that covers the washer jet was sitting on squint, blocking the spray up the window. A bit obvious, but worth a mention. :)

:hbomb: Have you tried the GUM clinic?:rofl::rofl:

Sorry, its late afternoon and im delerious. :insane:

I found mine was squirting far too low so used a pin to adjust the nozzle and now its fine. The actual wiper seems a bit poor compared to the front ones however, could be tighter pushing onto the window. Anyone know is this can be adjusted ?

Well I've checked all the hoses and the nozzle is clear and everything appears to be fine. I think I'll try and adjust it with a pin - I wonder why they didn't put the fan jet on the back? :D

  • 2 weeks later...

Sorry to drag this up, i have the same problem too, did you find a leak or was it just a blocked jet?

Cheers

Nope no leaks and plenty of pressure, just the adjustable nozzle not pointing high enough up the window. I managed to raise it and it's now spraying over the roof so I need to find another pin (first one got bent :o) so i can lower it slightly.

I believe others have hit problems with the hoses popping off so worth checking the engine bay first for signs of washer fluid... :)

Chris

Mine misses the rear screen completely!!! Must be bothered to get out there with a pin.

Cheers Chris,

Well funny you should say that but thats what the garage sorted out last time, but still the pressure seems rubbish. My car is in peices at the moment so might have a look if it is a problem further up the line :D
