That's what I paid at 4 years through fear of catastrophe - but surely a timing belt ought to last vastly longer? Even if it's a belt rather than a chain, I'd expect well above 100,000 miles...

Cheers guys for feedback

It should do, and it's highly likely that it would, but it's mandated by VW/Skoda now that the belt on the 2.0TFSI (at least, not sure about the other engines) is changed at 4 years, regardless of low mileage.

The latest update of the engine (think it's just referred to as 2.0TSI now) does have a chain rather than belt so it's not an issue.

Going to get it done at Lightcliffe Skoda Halifax £550 including waterpump

this is why i love my company car, it cost's me nothing, so i get a great car without the hassle of ownership.

Cripes - I've got my 4 year service and cam belt due early next year, didn't realise the service bit was so steep - this is a biggy then?

Costs you a shed load of tax though presumably?

Yes plugs all filters , longlife oil, belt, tensioner, waterpump and brake fluid

My car will be due a service at around 60k miles and that will also be around 4yrs old.

So I'll be having the "big service" done too.

I normally take my car to Als-Lock for my work as I simply find the service and staff amazing.

But I will give Vindis in Cambridge and Horton's in Lincoln a call for quotes.

I just like to have main dealer stamps in my books.

Got - Full 4yr major Service, inc all filters(ex air) - using longlife oil, Cam-belt kit and metal Water-pump, Brake Fluid change and Aircon service (regas) and MOT for £575 - at my local VAG Indy.

Remember you need to change the brake fluid every 2 years but its not included in the service, also a regas is recommend to keep the aircon at max efficiency and lastly the MOT, if you get a major service always push for a discount on the MOT

Opinions vary about changing the water pump on a PD140 but getting a metal one fitted, should mean you never have to bother changing it again in the future, if the water pump goes it costs almost as much as cam belt change to get fixed on its own as the labour time is very similar.

good price, I am paying £475 for a 40K service, waterpump, cambelt and brake fluid change at an indy. Using all genuine skoda parts, longlife oil on a 1.9 tdi.

I have a co. car but am considering opting out.

Can you get a cash option instead of the car? Add that to the tax you are paying, multiply it by 4 years (how long I have to keep the car for) and then factor in the 5p per mile extra I get from the company for having a private car AND the money I can claim back from the tax man as my mileage claim is less than the 40p allowed.

Suddenly, a co. car looks expensive!

What prices did you get back ?

What prices did you get back ?

I haven't made the calls yet :)

My car is at 55k miles and 4 months short of being 4yrs old.

As soon as the "Service Soon" light comes on I'll make some calls.
