There are a few upgraded turbos but if you want to keep OEM then a PD150 turbo might be right up your street. There is one for sale here:http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/167126-pd150-turbo/

Also hybrid turbos are nice if you want to chase the big powers ;):)

*edit* sunroof beat me to it! ;):D

That standard on is a KKK KP39, although I think some have a Garrett one

as an upgrade would the pd130 take a Garrett GT30

as an upgrade would the pd130 take a Garrett GT30

Don't think so. The OEM Garrett unit is a GT49. My hybrid is a GT50 unit IIRC

Have a look at Turbo Dynamics

would the garret 150 need to be reclocked?

would the garret 150 need to be reclocked?

Yes

PD150's do indeed require clocking. All VRS's have KKK PD130's fitted as stock

 No they don't. Mine had a Garrett on it

IIRC from 05 plate onwards, BLT codes they had KKK's fitted.

I have to agree that the majority are KKK, I think the cars that had the Garrett units fitted were pretty much pot luck.

My ASZ had a KKK unit fitted.

My ASZ is a KKK. Are you sure that yours didn't have a garrett fitted by a previous owner (if there was one)?

Looked at lists for turbos for all vrs engine codes in the past, they were all listed as KKK as stock, not a single garrett which were fitted to Golf GT TDI 130's

For a replacement, if you just want standard performance its worth getting a Garrett GT1749V, it is the PD150 one, it is stronger but will require clocking, thatll take all of 5 mins though.

The PD150 part is GT1749VB. Not to be confused with the PD130 GT1749VA

When did they change from asz to blt?
