'Aircon prob'

Featured Replies

Finally got round to getting the aircon regassed in the other halfs vrs tonight. Had the car 11 months and its never been proper cold so it was long overdue, but any way to cut a long story short, the alloy pipe that runs along the top of the condenser radiator with the gas fill point on it has sheared at the bracket where it is attatched to the rad at the top right passenger side.there is approx 1 inch of pipe after the 90 deg bend at the broken bracket ,then nothing. Needless to say the test gas p!ssed out of the end of the pipe. Obviously this is why she has no aircon but without stripping the front of the car down i cant see where i need to see, ie down the side of the rad.My question to anyone who knows is, is this pipe sheared or is there a flexi hose that has come detatched and is it easily sortable ? The end of the pipe feels very slightly tapered/rounded and not like it has fractured but as i said i cannot see what if anything attatches to it without stripping down the top front panel.

thanks chris

bump, anybody familiar with the aircon system ?

That pipe should connect to a rubber flexi pipe (crimped) just after the filler point. From there it goes down to the AC compressor on a banjo connector.

Moggy - looks like you beat me to it! I saw this post at lunchtimer and was just about to able into the car park at work and have a look at our Fabia to see if I could work out what should be where.

If it is a flexi you'd like to hink the OP can find the end and reconnect it...

thanks for the replies guys, however its the other end of the pipe(nearside). since posting ive been informed that it is a soldered connection into the condenser and it is unfixable...?
