Shark sts

Featured Replies

I have had my FL VRs for a few months now and am getting closer to giving into the voices that keep telling me to get a remap :D . managed to keep my origonal mark 1 vrs standard when i had it, but for some reason have the urge to give it a go on this one. Am tempted by the Shark STS unit anyone got one or tried one? what results have you had and ultimately is it worth it? also cars only done 4000 miles os far is that a little early to map or should it be fine to do now?

I think you'll need to find out if your ECU is one of the protected ones or not first. Pretty sure the STS unit doesn't work on the new protected ECUs

One word mate... Awesome!

I was told my car had tuning protection by some other moronic tuning company, however I took it down to Shark, with the view that my ECU would have to be removed, but Ben plugged his equipment in and had done it within 15 mins :D

Just take it down to him and he will have a look at it for you, but in my mind its the best money I've spent in a long time! Power delivery is so smooth all the way to the redline and have suprised quite a few unsuspecting people in it :giggle:

i say do it and get yourself a perfomance downpie and get him to stage 2 it.. i want to see what these TSI's put out @ stage 2 with all the supporting mods

If you've had your car for a few months then I'm 99% sure you won't have a protected ECU, so you should be fine

Do it! B)

That's all to say really.

Shark Performance = highly recommended.

The STS unit is a doddle to use. When you get it, plug it into your car and download the original map. The plug the STS unit into your PC and save the original map on your PC so you can attach it to an email which you send to Ben at Shark Performance.

He sends the remap in an email back to you which you download to the STS unit. Plug STS unit back into your car and follow on screen instructions. 10-15 minutes later your car is remapped. Start engine and enjoy. It's the best money I've ever spent on a car. Mine's was done 2 months ago and I still grin like a loon everytime I put my foot down.

See www.sharkperformance.co.uk/downloads for the pdf instructions on the STS units.

What sort insurance hikes have people seen with remap?

My renewal went up from just under £300 to £410 and I had to change my insurer as More Than won't insure remapped cars. I'm 47 and have >10 years NCB.

Did you try Skoda Insurance? They were the best price for mine with a Shark remap plus air filter

I had mine mapped at 4000 miles @ AMD Tecknic at Lakeside Essex using their own map which includes before and after RR run, have now done 14000 miles and totally impressed.

The power and torque is transformed from standard. Just need to get the standard Continentals changed over as I find the grip levels pretty poor, not sure the way to go in that respect.

Some of the Insurance comparison sites now include remap options, im insured with the RAC who substantially undercut some of the so called modified specialists.

Totally agree - Continentals are carp :giggle:

I replaced a set of BS potenza RE050's on my S2000 with Hankook Ventus V12 Evo's - awesome tyres! Thats they way I'll be going when the Conti's are done
