Warrenty Claims - What have you had?

Featured Replies

I've got a few bits on my motor that I want the main dealer to address under warrenty. I am very interested to hear what items you guys have managed to get replaced or fixed under warrenty. I am also interested to hear what bits you have had refused. I have the following issues:

1) Drivers wing mirror base plate cracked from folding in mirror

2) Gear knob silver has worn off

3) Alloy wheel centre caps pitted.

Please update the list with any items you may have tried.

Also what do you think my chances are?

Cheers

George

Can I ask what happend to the turbo and how they diagnosed it?

At first I thought it was a belt slipping as I got a squealing noise on acceleration ( more apparent when the engine was cold ). Over time it got worse and noticed it seem to be when the turbo was "on boost" and, in additon, was getting instaneous power drops. Took it in to the local dealer and had a chat with their guys who subsequently diagnosed the turbo. Had my suspicions anyway having googled the problem and had a look on here too. Glad it was under warranty as the bill was around £1700.

Alloys were a classic case of de-lamination.

All replaced with no quibble.

Six ? Are you driving a new version of the Scout designed for Lady Penelope ?

Had two replaced early in its life and then all four at around 21,000 miles as both the originals and replacements had started to delaminate...

Wouldnt replace wheel nut caps which had gone white (think this was from the previous owner being skoda as it was a demo, maybe woder wheels used?)

wouldnt do anything about the tyres which had worn on the inside after 8000 miles from the sports suspension alignment problem. bought new tyres myself and had it four wheel aligned to the correct settings in the wheel place. Skoda wanted £200 to align the wheels :(

Distorting speaker replaced

Even though I was at the dealer collecting my car, from them having fixed damage that I found when initially collected the car when new, or was it another ****-up they managed to achieve at the time! I still had to book the car in for them to investigate, and say yes your right Sir it is knackered and needs replacing! Was also told it would be fixed the same day that I took it in to be looked at (yea like I really believed that would happen!). (Trip 1) Drop car off, 2 hours later a phone call to tell me my car is ready, and informed a new speaker has been ordered. I ended up chasing to find out when replacement speaker was due in, "oh it is here sir when would you like to book it in to be fitted" Grrr.......

(Trip 2) Dropped car of at 8am, "we will call you when it is ready for collection", I return at 17:45 not having been called, to find out they had forgotten to do it........ additional trips to and from the dealer probably equalled about 100 miles. I hope nothing else fails under warranty!!!
