Warrenty Claims - What have you had?

Featured Replies

Only had the car 3 months (although it was 18 months old when I got it!)......first service at about 13K miles resulted in a replacement alarm horn and also a front nearside wheel bearing.......

All sorted and settled under warranty. The esp/abs problem was a fight to get Skoda to pay up in full, but with all the publicity and everyone knowing it was a major issue, I dug my heels in.

Mine went in last week. Squeek on start-up. Starter motor stripped and regreased. All fine now.

Only the one claim on mine so far - but it has taken over 4 weeks to get it sorted. Central locking fault that has been traced back to faulty wiring in the main fusebox.

What was the fault you had?

Mine does a funny thing from time to time. It auto locks when I set off then it will unlock itself almost straight away.

I lock it again manually and it's usually fine after that.

vRS that is 2 and half years old from new.

Only been back for one thing - slight juddering from car on occasions............they reset the DSG gearbox and it's been fine since..........(although to be honest, I think it might have been dirty fuel causing the problem, as I filled up twice at a certain garage and had the issue, never been back and never had the issue again).

Dashboard squeak I fixed myself using a bit of cardboard down the passenger side between the door and the side of the dash (it was the well-known 'side of dash rubbing against interior rubber door trim' problem).

Couldn't be bothered to take it to them to ask them to fix it, as I'd read so much on here about them taking apart the dashboard but it coming back, so I just sorted it myself.

Mines booked in for clutch master cylinder replacing and to have a look at the paint peeling off the rear wheel arch

my Blackline was about 30 minutes out the dealer's when it needed to go back in for a replacement ABS sensor

Mine is going in on Friday for the drivers seat that squeaks. Have also got a squeak on start up, but only every now and then - how long did it last when it does it? When mine does it, it lasts about 15 - 30 seconds after start up. Might mention it to them as well when I drop the car off.

Currently getting a new boot due to rust

It refused to unlock the front doors no matter what I tried, the rears would unlock (but then not lock either). Funnily enough, it's been back in again this morning after the heater tried frying me last week (the drivers outer face vent was blowing hot air out). Only stopped when I pulled over & turned off the ignition for a couple of minutes and then reset itself.

Dealer has had it on the diagnostic kit this morning and all four heater flap motors had logged the same fault but appear to be working correctly so they have reprogrammed the climate system which they are hoping will sort it. They've also (hopefully) replaced the 15" spare with a 16" which will fit on the front should I ever need it!

The added benefit of being sat at the dealers for an hour (apart from the reasonable coffee that they have at mine and most of the staff now knowing me by name after last years fiasco) is that my car gets returned all sparkly clean inside & out. I've also treated myself to some genuine screenwash (discounted price as well). The downside of an hour sat at the dealer is that I might have convinced myself that the wife now needs either a Fabia or a Citigo....

Ah my squeek was just a second long literally just as the car turned over and started. It started fine but just squeeked while doing so.

That sounds more like a belt or tensioner or similar.

Thanks, will mention it to them as well then.

On my old 54 plate 1.6 FSi Octavia Elegance:

- Ashtray (would not close)

- Centre console top storage box (chrome flaked off)

- Cigarette lighter (broken trim on purhcase)

- Catalytic convertor ( knackered after less than 40,000 miles)

- Windcreen (de-laminating)

- Rear windscreen wiper motor (failed)

- Rear quarter window seals (whistling)

- Windscreen demister vents (noisy)

- Probably more that I can't remeber...

On my current 57 plate 2.0 TDi Octavia vRS:

- Nothing! (except for the injector recall)

My 4 month old blackline is in for a investigation on DSG gearbox (they called today - they've stripped the transmission) due me reporting a knocking noise a low gears, also have a failed rear wiper motor on back order. currently driving round in the missus's 1.4s lupo (great fun though)!

I had the ' strange noise ' on acceleration fixed, it's the rattling waste gate I think.

No problems with the dealer... Once I gave them the details from here.

Apparently they have never heard of the problem before, strange considering Skoda uk sent a warning to all dealers ref. this problem.

Anyone know if the badge claim goes ahead without any hassle as mine are in s?!t state and warranty is finished in June. Cheers
