Dump Valve for VRS

Featured Replies

The loudest sounding set up will be a Cold Air Intake and a recirculating DV like a Forge 007P

A performance panel filter and a 007P is slightly noisier than the standard DV and standard panel filter

But in my opinion (and not necessarily proven) you get next to no performance gains from a CAI so its a lot of money to spend just for a bit of noise

Your not alone mate

These things are sold as cold air intakes (CAI), but the fact is they are no more than ambient air intakes (AAI)

Which is exactly what the car comes fitted with as standard from the factory :giggle:

Bill.

So do they sound good together??

If its noise you want then go for the split-r in your first point, there has been plenty of posts on the forum about them, in the long run it will be cheaper than buying an 007p and CAI.

LOL thats my car. I replaced that Split-R with a 007P. The Split-R makes a noise but I got a bit fed up with it after a while and wanted something a bit quieter so got the 007P. Its true it is cheaper to buy a split R than a 007P and a CAI if you want noise but the 007P and a CAI is still louder, and you'll find if you ever decide to sell the Split-R you won't get much for it :'(

I've got a CAI for sale in car parts, just sold the 007p tho. I've used both the split r and 007p and found the split r no louder than the standard plastic dv even with a CAI fitted. The 007p is over all a better value valve if it's noise your after!

I have just had my car in the garage for a service and found out it has a forge recirculating valve already fitted. Not sure if its the 007p tho. It doesnt make much noise either. So if i fit a new air pannel will it dump louder???

Thanks

Yeah but not what you're after. It will be slightly louder, but it won't make the laydeez look.

You want Van Diesel style don't you.

Hahaha, i do want it to be heard. :giggle:

Hi, i have been looking into buying a dump valve for my octavia VRS, but my friend told me to go for a recirculating valve. I dont no though, is he right? I want a better valve but i also want the noise.

I have found this splitter valve-

eBay splitter valve

Is this a good valve?

Will i get more turbo lag?

Is it a good price?

Any advice would be great!

Thanks

yes mate thats the correct one to get,its designed specificly for the VRS and ive got one on mine :)

thats the same kit i have on my vrs.

it only cost me £29.delivered last year.bargain

works great with the 007

Is it very loud??

if you chaps just want noise, disconnect the standard valve outlet from the inlet trunking and let it vent to atmosphere, bung the hole thats left. You'll have to live with the upset in transient fuelling and the MIL light, but a small price to pay to get the young girlies all staring on their way to school ;):D

. You'll have to live with the upset in transient fuelling and the MIL light,

Care to explain the fuelling bit, just out of interest like

I ain't looking for noise lol

the dump valve is releasing air that has previously been metered by the MAF sensor, and subsequently the ECU has already calculated the fuel required for that air. In the standard recircilating arrangement, the dumped air is returned to the system in front of the turbo but crucially AFTER the MAF, so the metered air is still in the system if you like.

If the dump valve vents to atmosphere (for max noise :giggle: ) an amount of air which has previously been metered by the MAF sensor, is released from the system which then leaves a short-term excess of fuel when you come back on the throttle.

This is why engines which use Manifold Pressure as primary load (ie derived airflow) measurement can happily use a dump valve releasing to atmosphere (Sierra and early Escort Cosworth for example), but those using MAF (measured airflow) will have problems and generally need to recirculate the air to contain it in the system.

Presumably the Split-R type valve offers a halfway house, and releases a proportion of the dumped air so it doesn't upset the system too much?

Is it very loud??

not too loud bit does sound nice.

turns heads
