Longest partnership dissolved.....?

Featured Replies

Hi Guys

As the title suggests, my partnership with my 2002 vRS is almost at an end. :'(

Not sure if this is the longest partnership on this forum or not?? :heartbreak:

I would have had her for 8 years in October, but sadly, we are parting company in September, as that is when my new Blue vRS Petrol estate will be sailing its way to me.

I have a build week of week 35, which is the 1st week of september, so should be here mid to late september

I have to say my current octavia is the best car i have ever driven, let alone owned, and will miss her a lot.

I would also like to thank all you guys (and Girls) on this site for all the useful info that i have read during the last few years, it really has been a ball!

From helping out with taking seats out, temp sensor, thermostat and all the usual niggles such as water ingress when opening boot (one of the reasons I have gone for an estate this time, along with more room for a demanding 3 yr old....yeah, yeah, I'm not gonna put her in the boot....)

Part numbers, prices, quotes and even insane idea's, this site has been awesome

And i'll still be keeping an eye out on here, and hopefully my old girl will turn up somewhere where she's loved.....

Thanks to you all!!

Wow I think that's possibly the longest anyones had one on here... possibly RobClubley and Gerry (MethodFeeder) had theirs from new I think! Good to hear you'll still be in the Skoda fold :)

Is it going in P/ex for the new one or are you selling it?

Part ex, and yep, had it from brand new, after seeing my neighbours silver one glistening on his drive, I thought, Hmmm, thats nice, and a lot of car for the money.

Only got offered £2300 from Skoda newport for the part ex, but saying that, will need new discs and pads all round, cam belt was done 2 years ago, other than that, not in bad nick, 3 little dints (bloody supermarkets), and baker 21 would be ashamed of the swirlmarks (loads of car wahes in its early years....)

But, runs like a dream......

The current no vat offer with Skoda made it worthwhile to look at changeing, and have to be honest, there was no way I was leaving Skoda just yet, looking forward to the 200bhp of the new model.

I've only had mine for nearly two years but as of today I'm seriously thinking of getting rid of it. When it works it's brilliant, but at all other times it's an unreliable, unpredictable pain in the backside and has persuaded me not to touch VAG products again. If I can fix it I'll keep it, but otherwise it's goodbye and good riddance. Glad you've had a good time with yours though, you must be the karmic balance to my ownership experience :)

Well, I've had my vRS since new, and I bought it in July 2001. :-) It's just passed the 100,000 mile mark and is still going strong.

The old thing will be put out to pasture soon though - I have a nice new Yeti 1.8 TSI Elegance on order!

I've had my TDi SLX from new. It's a T reg bought at the beginning of 1999.

It's got 105k miles on it and it's still trouble free.

One of my work mate has a pre-face lift TDI.... can't quite remember the plate though. Will find out tomorrow....

105k is just about run in then :-) My 2001 110TDI (y plate) is on 168k at the moment.

Some of the mileages on this forum are scary lol! My Fabia VRS is my first car i've had thats went past 50k! Every other car thats came close to that mileage has been traded in! My Corsa runabout is the highest mileage car i've owned and it's only on 65k on a T reg!

Had my Fabia almost a year though and if i can't get what i want to replace it then i'll be sticking with the Skoda fold and getting an Octy VRS or a Yeti if my mrs lets me as she doesn't like it lol

Had mine from new - 2004 and 96000 km so far. Just about run in I'd say.

nice to hear. Ive had mine since new (25 may 2005) now on 84k and I plan on keepin her till she rusts over lol. so far cant see gettin rid at all.

I've got a 1.9SLXI S reg from it being 6 months old.

  • 2 weeks later...

Had the octy from new as well, June 2004 till now. 208,000 Km. Still much more left to give

Can I add a Fabia Estate to the list? - from new on 3rd March 2001 to-date - just over 9 years and 120,000 miles

Hopefully a few years and miles left to go...

Just to add to those who have posted their mileages and missed my intro post (with speedo photo). Mine now has 318,000 miles. 52 plate 1.9 tdi 110. These engines are good for half a million miles according to past experience with the company I work for. They do however start to cost money after 350k. We currently have 2 working every day with over 450k.
