Bubbled Lacquer

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

I had a bit of a shock yesterday when I noticed that there is some major bubbling of the lacquer over the paint on my spoiler. :'( It's two large areas, and several smaller spots ( circled on below images). It's definately new, wasn't there last week when I washed it (something that happens fortnightly via the approved 2BM :giggle: )

Apologies for the quality, crappy camera phone was all I had to hand.

Does anybody have any suggestions what measures I can take to prevent it worsening at least, even I can't fix it? There does appear to be moisture in the larger pockets.

I'm off to see the dealer tomorrow anyway, when I go for my test-drive of the new vRS, so was planning on questioning them also. via the search a found one or two other threads that referenced the warranties, but with little consistency. Anyone have any ideas if this is covered under the anti-perforation warranty? It's a '55 plate.

thanks

Not warranty as paint is 3 years. Bodywork is 10 years if due to rust coming through a panel, but the spoiler is plastic so defo not rust.

Best to have a bodyshop prep it on the car, paint and lacquer. It's a bitch to remove the spoiler without wrecking the paint underneath.

I have this problem too! Mine has appeared in the last 2 weeks, and is getting worse :( Being a black car, it shows up quite a lot!

I will get some pictures up tomorrow.

I have exactly the same problem. It occurred on a very hot day about two weeks ago - I washed it early on before it got too hot and then left it with a view to waxing it later in the evening. A bird crapped on my spoiler so I wiped it off with a rag.

Later on in the evening I noticed a small blister in the laquer and then the next morining the rain had got under it - now half the spoiler is blistered.

I think it's likely a result of the very hot weather and maybe the bird crap or even something on the rag I used to wipe it off with.

.....oh and definitely not a warranty claim according to my local dealer.

No bird poo was involved with my spoiler, however it does seem to have appeared with the very hot weather recently

Its just getting worse :'(
