Golf R32 brakes

Featured Replies

I've bought some R32 callipers & carriers for my vrs. When I fit these to my hubs do I need to run the R32 discs? I've not got them as yet and they're going straight to the powder coaters to become green instead of blue. So just trying to find out if I need new discs.

Yes R32 discs will be need.

I presume that you've got mk4 R32 brakes? I have the same for my vrs and they will fit fine with the exception of only being able to fit 330mm discs instead of the standard R32 324mm discs. The reason for this is that the hubs on the vrs are slightly different to the R32 ones and the calipers sit at a slightly different angle and will touch the 334mm discs when trying to fit them (I found out this when trying to fit mine). You will need to get bigger discs as the 312 ones wont fill the calipers too. I had to get my R32 discs (ECS ones) milled from 334mm to 330mm (took 2mm off the radius of them) in the end.

Hope this helps!

I've got a feeling they are about 30mm bigger than the VRS discs and I remember a few posts on here before about the genuine R32 discs from Volkswagen being very heavy so you're probably better off getting a pair of aftermarket discs to suit from someone like Tar-ox, Black Diamond, etc.

Have you checked they will fit under the wheels assuming you're running standard 17" spiders?

I cant check anything as not got them yet, thats why i thought i'd ask on here. If all i have to do is get the discs milled its not a problem. But the problem could be the wheels, will they not fit uunder standard 17's (this could turn out to be costly if gotta buy 18's)

Massive help, cheers. It does my head in when you do something & there's something just slightly slightly not right & your at the point of no return.

Did they fit under standard rims?

I'm not putting standards on, going for drilled and groved.

I was just wanting to know if the brakes fit under standard 17" wheels?

Sounds like an increasingly expensive upgrade.

Unless you're going to 18's anyway, why not just get the best Octavia disc / pad combination you can?

I was going to go for 18's but it was going to be nearer the end of the year. Looks like thats all changed now, dam.
