Fitting cupra bushes in console arm

Featured Replies

Hello, before i get them in as you all know they have to be seated correctly, is there points to line up or markings? Could someone show a pic on how to position it before pressing it in or even a pic of it in the console would help?

Thanks all

Cant give you a photo of the Cupra bushes, but this is the correct fitting of the new Skoda bush.

the cupra ones are solid aren't they?

yes thats a skoda one as he said...

Would just like to mention the new Skoda bushes are almost solid, even the voids are part filled with rubber. Car feels well planted with these bushes, and they are not as harsh as the solid Cupra ones. There should be alignment dots on the bushes, but they may well differ from the Skoda bushes, The crucial thing is to align the extended hex portion correctly with the consule, that's the hex the wishbone spigot fits into. If you get that wrong, the bush will be loaded excessively when the wheels are back on the ground.

ive located some solid poly bushes , anybody fitted these? know a couple of guys who have and they are impressed emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Are you sure they are for the rear of the wishbone and not the front. AFAIK the poly bush is for the front only.

I would avoid them. They are not metal sleeved and are likely to rotate inside the consule.

More likely they'll wear oddly and end up knocky, mishapen blobs of useless plastic? ?

we shall see what feedback i get from the customers who have already fitted them and go from there emoticon-0144-nod.gif they seem far better than oe strength wise, very strong indeed! although i havent and wont be fitting any myself personally yet emoticon-0102-bigsmile.gif

I think the solid cupra one i have purchased are the best for value, performance and quality as they are only 8.50 a side and would not give cabin noise as bad as having them all poly bushes on the arms.

Thanks for all the feedback and help. I have another question how much are people paying for labour to get these fitted as a local garage has offered to do them for 80 quid? :dull:

Couple of noob questions (sorry) -

1) On the ebay link above, there's the two smaller bushes, would it be wise to change them to something more substantial whist its being taken apart? are there cupra equivalent to them too? If so is there a part number/name for these? :)

2) What about the backs?

Thanks.

ye ok but the cupra ones i have, have pips in four oppersite points to the outer of the bush it also has a solid metal hexagon collet with 2 pips which line up with two of the outer ones (these 2 pips i think indicate the old wider part of the hex in the old bushes).

there is no wider parts to the hex like your picture has. (oh and it should say "looking from back to front") :giggle:

they dont have any lines or anything on the outers of the bush either.

These "wider" bits are just where the rubber has been relieved to make pressing the spigot end of the TCA a bit easier. The Cupra one being a lot heavier duty will not have these relieved areas - and that is one reason why the spigot is a bit harder to fit into the bush. (on second thoughts - can't remember - it could be that I'm wrong and the hex section of the spigot might have horizontal flats at these points)

No, that view is definately looking "front to back" that is the recessed end that you are looking at - not the rear "flat" end.
