Midlands meet seems quite popular

Featured Replies

going on from the vortex thread  and hoping it stays here, the idea of a midlands meet started by funky jutel seems to have caught the collective imagination.

i personally can't make that weekend in november mentioned ( 16/11-17/11 )as i'm on call and have another exam the following week, but its a positive thing that a date has been mentioned so soon, so let's continue to have your thoughts/ideas/availability etc. for that and other dates. personally, the following weekend would be better for me, but whatever suits the group is the main thing.

cheers.

Huck,

So far on VW Vortex there are 2 others expressing interest on 16/17-11 so far - lets see how it goes, I suffer from your problem as I am on call the folowing week. :(

I think the main thing is that a date is agreed and stuck to otherwise nothing will happen, I am sure once we get off the ground these type of thing like the Alconbury daty will be better attended.

Last year myself, Manny, Lloyd and Karl had a mini meet up in a pub and it worked really well.

Any weekend to a point can be made free.

However, the later part of November suits as I'm busy till the 15th.

Any more intrested?

Most weekends free, someone make a decision and I'll try to get down....

....or why not try and do what us northern guys do, meet on a weekly basis!

(which anyone is more than welcome to join, we do a little run out cross country, then hit the pub for a cokes n crisps n chatting, every thursday night)

The following messge re this midlands meet posted by the topic starter Funky Jutel on vwvortex:--

"Hi Guys,

Many thanks for the response. The weekend of the 16th/17th would be rockin for me. I will sort out a suitable venue. Was thinking maybe in the Stoke On Trent / Birmingham area. Maybe meet at a pub with a BIG carpark and have a pie and a pint and swap RS stories and have a general chinwag.

Let me know who can make it and i will sort a suitable venue."

end of Funky Jutels post

Which day is the prefered day to meet for U guys (oh and any gals naturally..ahem) Saturday or Sunday. Must admit Sunday for me would be best.

After all the various correspondance, I am thinking that the best place we can meet due to the motorway access, will be The Malt Shovel Pub, which a) has a huge car park B) is almost right on both the M6 and M42 junctions and c) The food ain't bad.

It's located to be precise off of junction 6 of the M42 (NEC turn off) and then found on the A45 Coventry bound. From the M6 you can get to it by taking junction 4 and heading down the A446 direction Ballsall Common and when you get to the rpundabout as you cross the A45 The Malt Shovel is on your right up on a sort of hill!!

If you need further details, leave me your contact e-mail addresses and I will send you my mobile phone no for further info.

I'd be most interested in knowing who will be dropin in.
