Symphony Radio/Cassette/CD Changer

Featured Replies

Hi, My Occy Ambience has the Symphony Radio/cassette with a CD changer in the boot. Does this have a code for security against theft or can I safely disconnect the battery without problems. I do not have the original documentation for the car as I bought it S/H.

On a seperate issie do you know if it will play CDS with MP3s recorded on them please.

it won't play mp3's

When you reconnect the battery the headunit SHOULD read the code from the ECU / convenience control unit (can't remember which, sorry). I have disconnected my headunit several times and never had a problem, BUT other people have. I think it is possible to disable the coding before you remove it by changing the setting in the setup menu.

You can download a copy of the user manual here;

The CD changer will not play MP3 discs.

Just had a look at that link and it only shows the Symphony CD headunit not the tape version. I do have a pdf copy of the Symphony tape unit which I could email you if you like?

You can change it in the setup menu so that it doesn't lock itself if the battery is disconnected but IIRC to make that change if it hasn't been done already, you need to enter the pin code anyway :thumbdown:

If it is the exact original headunit from the factory, and hasn't been swapped or replaced at some point, then you won't need a code. The ECU will recognise it and unlock it.

If, however, the headunit has been swapped (warranty reapir etc), then you will probably need to get the code.

Thanks SimonJ - I would really appreciate it if you could email me the pdf file for the Symphony tape unit. Many thanks for the help. My email address is [email protected].

Just sent you that pdf. Hope it is of some use.

If you still want the stereo code, you should be able to get it from a Skoda dealer, but be prepared to need the V5 and/or car.
