CLIMATRONIC SETTINGS

Featured Replies

My Owners Handbook recommends an "all year round" setting on Auto @ 22 degrees. As a new owner of my 2008 Octavia Elegance 1.9 TDI PD DSG I would be interested to know if other owners have adopted this setting.

generally auto @ 19 for me

Yup I generally just leave it on 22 unless mega hot then turn down to around 18 to get it cool then just set back at 22.

generally auto @ 19 for me

Same here, 19-19.5 90% of the time... I find in the wife's Leon though I tend to have it a degree or so higher a lot of the time for the same physical temperature.

22 degrees too warm for me as a general rule. I have it on 18 and auto the vast majority of the time. B)

I'm a 18-20° man myself. On cold days then it goes up to the 22° mark, never any further.

Yup - 19 and auto for me most of the time, with A/C on. Unless I'm trying to beat the miles per gallon hi-score which means granny-driving mode engaged and A/C most definitely off.

Anywhere from 19-22 really :)

Liking having dual zone again; my 'zone' tends to be set lower than SWMBO's :)

Couldn't possibly have it on 19, I don't like odd numbers! :D

...so 18 or 20 for me! Oh & definitely none of this .5 nonsense either! :notme:

That makes 2 of us.

When i used to have the Stream radio before i got the MFD3 if the Long Haired Colnel altered the volume it always inevitably ended up on a wrong no. so i had to alter it

A bit like the toilet roll paper has to come over the top of the roll and the toothpaste has to be squeezed from the bottom

18 for me , all year round, winter drops to -6 here and summer up to 43

Mine is usually between 18 and 22 (with a predilection to 18)

Auto on 21.

Currently the passenger side is on 22 and the drivers side on 19, if I'm wearing short sleeves the drivers side normally changes to 20...

18 also for me on both sides. 22 is far too warm. I also had the same in the Passat. I do like the ability to lock both controls to the drivers side so you can alter both of them in sync rather than independently all the time as it is far more efficient. the Passat didn't have that option.

This is rapidly turning into a meet conversation!

Definately 18 for me, unless outside temp gets above 20deg. Wife's is always set to 16, she's hot stuff. Mostly in Auto and A/C off, I'm afraid i like the Fuel Econ of 60-70MPG from my OctII El 1.9TDI 09 plate. The AC gets run at least once a week though, I find that using AC takes about 6-8 MPG.

6-8 MPG to run AC?!! Are you sure?

Anywhere between 4-8 MPG I just hate dipping under 60. As usual a lot depends on how heavy your right foot is. Don't forget though, if you leave the car on automatic, the A/C pump runs wether the car needs the cool air or not. I found this out on my previous Laguna. I couldnt understand why the AC compressor was cutting in and out regardless of the air temperature being delivered. You have to understand how AC works, all it does is remove the moisture which serves to cool the air down, if the car required heat it will add it, but will deliver fairly dry air which helps to demist.

Climate should regulate the temperature meaning the compressor isn't always running - only when needed. This is more efficient than aircon.

.

You are right, but even in climate the compreesor switches on and off regularily eve if it does not need cool air, don't forget its actually drying the air.

Although slightly off topic does any once else get upset by the volume knob on the radio not having a stationary power graphic?

ie the | to denote power rotates with the volume.

I guess anyone who doesn't like odd numbers or 0.5 degree temperature increments may have also noticed this. :giggle:

Yes i do but having MFSW solves this as i control the Volume through that instead

Think I know what you mean - do you have the Bolero unit? The fact that the power icon in the centre rotates with the dial, so it ends up at a wonky angle - is that what you mean?

i.e.

Arrrgh you horrible man. I have been trying to edit that pic to put it straight and can no longer look at this thread as it will bug me :( :( :(

As a rule, I find the climate setting at 18 is usually adequate for me (22 is way too warm for a cars cabin temp imo), but for the past couple of months, have found that 16 has cooled me down nicely.
