CLIMATRONIC SETTINGS

21.5 both sides most of the time and on Auto.

It varies depending on the time of year for me, because while 22 is a good all round temperature to maintain, in the summer I like it cooler on a hot day outside (particularly with solar glare to contend with). In the winter I will have it at 23 or 24 quite often. Also I rarely have the aircon on, both due to fuel eceonomy issues and because around town at lower speeds in the summer I prefer the fresh air from having my windows down (and often I will switch off the system entirely then).

Its no different to your house really. In the summer when you haven't got the central heating on you will tolorate far lower evening temperatures (17 or 18 say) and be happy than you would in the winter where if you had the same temperature in your living room you would probably feel cold. This can often be due to subjective feelings rather than an objective assessment of what is a comfortable temperature to sit around in...

only had my vrs a few weeks, never had a car with climate control before, still working out how it works, i normally have it on 18, and then i push the buttons for the footwell and screen, is this the aircon only ?? if i push the auto button, is the aircon still on ??

Arrrgh you horrible man. I have been trying to edit that pic to put it straight and can no longer look at this thread as it will bug me :( :( :(

With auto enabled, aircon will be on - if it's required to bring the car up or down to the temperature you've selected. It should also use a range of vents in order to achieve that temperature as quickly as possible. It also controls the fan speed for you. So say the car might be at 25 ambient when you get in, select auto and then turn it down to 16, it'll kick the fans to maximum to drop the temperature as quickly as possible.

Think I know what you mean - do you have the Bolero unit? The fact that the power icon in the centre rotates with the dial, so it ends up at a wonky angle - is that what you mean?

i.e.

On climatornic the aircon is only on if you press the AC button and it lights up -it will throw out hot air as well as cold depending on whether it needs to warm the cabin or cool it, and also acts as an air purifier - so you can use all year round, but will suffer fuel wise.

The auto setting is by far the best setting to have, regardless of whether you use the AC. Just press auto, set the temp dial, and forget about it - the system ensures that all the cabin is maintained at your preferred temp, and will adjust different vents/fan speed and cool/warrm air as required. I only use the manual overide if I need to demist/defrost and then have one of the screen vent overide buttons set...

I prefer 22C in the cooler weather but found myself using 20C in France recently. Depends on strength of sun, footwear, clothing etc. SWMBO had different ideas, thank goodness for the dual zone.

Calm down Carl, here:

...standby/volume knob lined up straightly, AC on Auto, a nice even number for the temperature both sides!

Plus if you look carefully, a TOP 80's classic playing on the Columbus!

Phew

Thanks Simbo.

Ohhhhhhhh. Arrrrrrrrgh it's not clean
