Another Coilover Thread

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Just deciding what suspension to get for my Furby.

I had decided on Weitecs, or possibly the cheaper non-stainless KWs, but a friend has put me off by saying that I may as well get stainless ones - but these are all at least £200 more expensive.

What's the consensus on here?

I have the stainless ones....

probably will last longer i would have thought and mines will be adjustable whenever i want to raise / lower in the future, whereas the galv ones will rust and be hard to adjust, basically fit at the height you desire then leave it

Very happy with my Weitecs. I keep em clean and still nice and tidy.

im gonna go for v1's too, the cheaper non stainless ones are around 550 and once mine are fitted they wont be adjusted much anyway

Sorry to hijack...

I understand the difference between the stainless KW's and the other coilovers in the family (AP, Weitec), but what's so different between the others, i.e. AP, Weitec and non-stainless KW? Where does the money go?

Andrew

Build Materials/Quality.

The Valve system in an AP set are more basic than the KW V1

The Weitec are a very good option and a little trick is to wrap them in electrians tape as soon as you've fitted them and got the height how you want it and this should protect the threads over the winter.

apologies for secondary thread hi-jack emoticon-0136-giggle.gif , did try pm' lummox actually but wouldnt sendemoticon-0145-shake.gif

so what do you use to clean/protect your weitec's? ive had mine fitted about 4mths and only cleaned em thru the arch gap with apc/wd40 so must get round to doing it properly before they start to corrode! and then i will do as damian suggests over the winter emoticon-0148-yes.gif

I have fk konigsports on the golf and keeping on top of them is a pain, i keep them copperslipped up but they will sieze in about a week if left unprotected, where the stainless kw's on the fabia never siezed up with no maintenence in over 2 years

Personally I would go for the Weitec Coilovers!! The KW coilovers do have better dampers but the Weitec are more than capable and still offer a great ride and handling :D

As Damian said, try and cover them up or use some grease, if you come to adjust them after they have been on the car for a while they can take come cleaning like most coilover kits.

We are doing free shipping to the UK or £150 fitting as well at the moment :)

you can buy coilover covers from demontweeks. Apparently work well, although sparkies tape is a lot cheaper lol
