Next years VAT rise

Featured Replies

Just picked up this weeks Auto Express to have a look at their Yeti article and noticed a piece on the forthcoming VAT rise. If I read it correctly and you are looking to order a new Skoda (Yeti  ) then you have until the end of next month to place your order, to ensure Skoda will honour this years agreed price even if the vehicle arrives after the 4th January 2011 VAT rise.

Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere and I missed it.

I didn't realise it was next month, I thought it was the end of this month!

I best go check the bulletin they sent out, you're probably right though.

Any car ordered now will most likely arrive in the new year anyway, so if you order next month it will probably be Feb2011.

We had a similar discussion last year when vat was going from 15% to 17.5%

Sadly the only way to avoid the extra is to pay the price in full before the vat rise.

Pretty difficult especially if you are trading in your old car.

Doesnt matter as long as the retailer has said they will honour the original agreed price.

just wait till the vat rise hits the fuel price..wow,and its going up in a weeks time to well over £1.20 a litre, how can wee all stay on the road at this rate!dident the government say, when fuel goes up,duty will come down?......dont hold your breath.

mike.

Depends where you live, Diesel at home is still under £1.16 a litre, so even after the increase will be less than £1.20 a litre.

I wonder if skoda will end the VAT free deal on certain Fabia and Octavia models.

If fuel duty does come down it will be a precursor to road pricing. UK governments will not give up their motorist cash cows..... It is just a shame that more of the billions are not spent on improving the roads that we all pay for........

There is a cat in hells chance of roads getting much cash now with savage cutbacks, especially the likes of down here in more rural areas the once potholes are now becoming craters because the councils have no money to repair them.

go to the Yorkshire moors not a pot hole in sight the roads that i used up there were lovely back home to the cr-p around here now

I ordered my yeti via DTD on 2/8/10,really good discount.Quoted approx 14/16 week delivery, expected in november. However they quite categorically state " that no increase in vat will be covered,if the delivery is delayed for any reason beyond 4/1/11".You might want to bear this in mind if ordering any time soon...... :mmm:
