So, I've had them for ages after finding a set of OEM Pillar trims online.

The Hatch specific ones have been sold out for a while now but these are actually the Combi set as the B-pillar parts are identical! Just didn't use the C Pillar ones. (Don't worry though, they're already on there way to a good home)

So, pix...

So, What cha think.. Give us a vote and a comment.. even if it "well that was a waste of time on a black car, Rob.." ;)

Taa!

p.s. Yes... I know it's gagging for a wash.

It looks better for it, mainly as it's not shiny. But would I bother if it were mine? No; but as long as your happy with it.

Edited by TriggerFish

I hate it. Sorry but not a fan :(

I like it

Breaks up the shine a little

i see the point on silver cars, but on a black car kind of defeats the purpose as its already black

I'm kind of on the fence. I think it looks much better on a coloured car though to give the floating roof sort of effect.

its different but i cant quite see there point?

having said all that its what you think that counts, it'd be boring if we were all the same so thumbs up for effort

Well, When I did it I really didn't know how it'd look and if it was worth it.. Of course now it's on I think it was worth it because it's mine ;)

However.. I've realised that actually, on a black car it serves a slightly different purpose.. and rather then make the window look all pillarless and coupe'ish, it stops the roof line plummeting down between the doors in the middle, to give the (as said) floating roof effect.

Personally? I like it, it's subtle in some lights and more obvious in others, but I'm glad i've done it! :D:thumbup: I might even have the only black Fabia with them fitted?

good effort but not to my taste - however, if everyone liked the same things how boring would everyones cars be?

I might even have the only black Fabia with them fitted?

For now Rob...

I think its a subtle look and I must confess I had my eye on a set on ebay

with a view to doing the same on mine.

I think a few others may give it a go now they can see it.

Hmmmm.....

Sorry If you feel I stole your idea man, I've been sat on these for aaaaaaaaaages!

My top tips for anyone applying these with out any previous experience with big stickers are..

A. Do the passenger side 1st so your a pro by the time you get the the drivers side!

B. Ever applied a screen protector to a ipod or phone? It's the same technique.. peel the back away as you stick to the car.

C. These do NOT like coming back off if you get the angle wrong.. they will if you need to (I backed up a couple o times by an inch or so to get rid of bubbles) but if ya do it too much they'll start to get creases in them.

D. The rear door ones in my set were slightly shorter then it seemed they should be.. I have the teeny tinniest gap at the bottom of the rear passenger side because the front door sticker was plenty long enough for me to place exactly where I wanted it, but then once the rear door one was lined up at the top it fell about 1mm short at the bottom.. So start a mm or so lower then you think you need to. I did on the drivers side and it looks no worse or it and doesn't have a gap.

carbon might have worked......

carbon might have worked......

Not a fan of stick on carbon myself. But it's certainly have more of a point on a black car.

Sorry If you feel I stole your idea man, I've been sat on these for aaaaaaaaaages!

Hehe, not at all Rob...

I thought it might be easier and more reversible if I did the same job using the Di noc

carbon film. My grille surround is already done with this stuff and it has proven to be pretty

durable over the time it's been on.

Also it will remove fairly easily with a hairdryer

if I tire of it or decide it looks naff. Or just return to OE looks again.

Got to say, I see your point about the "floating roof" effect.

Kinda like this idea.

I don't like them on car's in general so not for me.

Just looks like its had a bad accident repair to the doors to me, not a fan. Sorry! But as long as you like it fair play

Matt

3M Carbon would look good on Black Magic I think done the pillars on mine

but then I am a Fan of Carbon as you can see :-

It looks better but I personally wouldn't bother on a black car as it's already black, As said it works better on a coloured car. makes it look like a Fabia II

I have those on my silver VRS but don't really see the point on the black one. I would suggest some gloss black carbon ones? This is what I'm thinking of doing now, either the Mitotec ones from superskoda or just get some gloss blak fil amd do it myself.

Bought a set of these a couple of weeks back on ebay for £2.70 from a main dealer, haven't fitted them yet though. Thanks for the tips

Ive answer no but a bit pointless aint the words id use its just not my taste im affraid

Looks alright, I see where your coming from. May look better in CF vinyl wrap? Please dont say it cost £20+ though.... :dull:

Na, £14 shipped. Keep in mind genuine Skoda OEM part.

They're not like a wrap.. they're thicker and actually quite stiff and make the pillars look like plastic, like they do on Audi's and golfs.. Once they've aged a litlle and blend with all the rubbers a tad more (As KTP said ages ago) I think it'll create quite a nice subtle look.

I really like the way it keeps the body lines slowing along the bottom and top of the windows..

Here, black BMW 120 with non painted pillars.. I guess this is the "look" my trims are trying to achieve! :D

I've also answered, "nope, bit pointless" although it's not the words I'd use.

You've actually done a top job and for what it is, it looks pretty good, it's just not to my taste. I prefer the pillar trims to match the colour of the paint work, so I personally don't like the matt look on the pillar trims, even though a lot of manufacturers seem to be doing it as standard nowadays...

So your putting Black pillar trim covers on a black car???      :rofl:
