Water ingress

Featured Replies

Lowered the passenger sunvisor this morning and the headlining was wet. It would appear to be coming from the upper corner of the windscreen.

Reading threads this would seem to be a common problem with the Felicias (2001, 1.3 MPI estate). Some folk mention using sealant but I can't work out wether it should be applied between the body and the seal or the glass and the seal. As the water got in when the car was stationary as I haven't used it for a few days, I am assuming the leak is between the body and the seal.

I don't have a sunroof. If a DIY reseal doesn't cure it then I will have to consider having the screen removed and refitted professionally, and expense I would prefer to avoid if possible.

Any advice from our guru's would be appreciated. thanks.

I wouldn't concider myself a guru, but I've had this problem before on 2 other vehicles I've owned, and during a torrential downpour this afternoon realised that I also have the problem with my pick up, arse! I have used, with success a product called seek and seal. Squeeze it round in between the glass and seal (and body and seal for good measure) It worked both times I have used it before. Make sure you use a plastic thing to part the seal and glass (a bicycle tyre lever is refect) and not a metal screwdriver like me (I cracked my campervans screen). Make sure you do it after a good few days of decent weather to ensure any water has dried out first.
