225/40/18s for Octavia vRS

Featured Replies

Will need to get a couple of fronts fairly soon, and was anticipating getting another pair of Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas

Just had a quick shufty at them on Camskill - previously about £88 - now £110 :o

Michelin Pilot Sport 3s are 'only' £124.10, so I might be having a change

Thanks - I'd just found them actually - 2 available at £86.95 each with free delivery

Back to the Vreds then

How much are people paying locally for tyres to be fitted & balanced?

I have just had some rims refurbished and have bought some winter tyres for them, but I have noticed most fitters are charging around £13 per tyre to fit and balance them!

My local fitter charged me £10 per tyre all in last time I went

The £88 was a promotional price. I think it was a manufacturer promotion. Best bet might be four PS3s on the next Costco -20% promo in a couple of months - £111 inc vat and fitting a corner.

Yep, think Vred priced down their stock to get a foothold in the market with the Sessanta to be honest - so not surprised they're starting to go up in price from the usual suspects.

Glad you're sorted for now though - Elite are good. Tend to use Camskill, or them - whichever has the best deal at the time

Cheers Nick - I'm not a Costco member either :'(

If I joined all these things I'd never be off the fecking netbook, and I'm on it a fair bit already :S

Can be arranged - just come over earlier for a NW meet and I'd take you down to the Trafford Park one, across the road from the Trafford Centre - no problem :)

Thanks Steve - might take you up on that sometime

Seems the vreds are a popular choice on the VRS - what are the sidewalls like? Can you feel them load up like on GSD3s (poor) or are they rock solid with lightning quick response and turn in (Excellent - like Potenza RE070s)? My fronts will be through soon and I need a replacement.

I noticed that Camskills price had changed the other day. I am in a positon that I have plenty of tread at the mo, but with winter coming, I didnt want to leave it until it was too close to the limit!

Noticed Vred's here for £92 each inc del Mytyres

I have just found a local place that fits them for £7.25 each inc disposal

I notice Avon ZZ3 in the correct size at Elite for 81.08 ea. Anybody tried these, If so how do they compare for grip noise and wear?

I just got 2 ZZ3's on the front and so far so good but at the end of the day is up to the individual preference. There is a litte road noise u do feel the bumps. Tyre wear so far, 1000 miles done approx but wil keep updated if you want.

Vrs tyres still originals but I run ZZ3s on my Fiesta ST. (driving is wife's commute and me on mostly B roads- little motorway) I think they are excellent. Grip - wet superb, dry all you could want. Wear - 5000miles on front to date, with about 75% tread still left. I'll certainly be looking to fit them to vrs when the Dunlops  go.

You won't be waiting long, my vRS came with those POS tyres to and I had worn the fronts out in 4 months (about 8500 miles)

Better out there than the ZZ3 IMO. They've been around a long, long time and things have moved on. I remember fitting them to a Focus in 2004 :)

My money would go elsewhere - but as mentioned, it's all down to personal preference
