Fabia window mechanism broken

Featured Replies

The mechanism that operates my passenger window has broken. When trying to close the window, I heard a breaking noise from inside the door and now the electric controls will allow the window to drop but not go back up. I have tried to close the window manually but it will only go so far and leaves a 2 inch gap. I have had to wedge the window in place temporarily and would very much like to find out how to fix it. A couple of questions;

1. How can I get the window closed?

2. Is it (fairly) easy to repair?

I would usually jump straight into a Skoda garage to get this done but the car is getting on in years and I fear it will be horribly expensive.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks

All looks good for getting the window back up/ repaired.

Sorry for sounding a bit dim, but how do I get the door trim off? :S

Three Torx screws along the bottom edge, one behind the trim by the door handle, and one (maybe two - can't remember) cross-head screw/s inside the armrest. Then it should just be a case of teasing out things like the lock pin and electric window switch...

HTH

to pop the covers off the grab handle poke something long and thin through the hole on the underside of the handle.

as above, to remove door card.

Remove three torque screws on bottom of door,

Remove mirror adjuster / balnk plate (small hole inside door opening handle to release clip) and remove torque screw

pop front cover off grab handle (see note above)

slide rear cover forward

remove 3 x phillips head screws

then tease door card off

How did it work out? I just suffered exactly the same situation, but on driver side. However, I'm in Sweden so we're still talking the same door! ;)

I have spare electric window "gubbins" from both front doors. Currently still fitted.
