Defo cheaper than the S3, by ALOT! And IMO better than the other 3 options you are considering...

More exclusive than the common GTi and quicker, nicer sounding, better looking etc etc! Worth the extra £180 a year tax :giggle:

Just my opinion ;)

If you're considering new/nearly new S3s, I'd look at a used B7 RS4 myself. 06/07, under 30k.

From your list, for what I'd be looking for - Megane. Not a standard 'full fat' 225, but an R26 230. Go and try one before you discount it just for being French :dull:

S3 - nice overall motor, but found the drive a bit dull TBH. Would need some mods to bring it alive a bit more.

Adding other options, as said - 130i MSport 3dr hatch, plus 135i MSport coupe. I'd try both of those.

Alpina D3, just as a bit of a left field curveball! Mega exclusive and that nice twin-turbo 204bhp 4-pot that BMW themselves fail to use in the 3-Series :yes:

Well... going for a test drive of a astra vxr tomorrow so will see what thats like,

Been to have another look at some S3's and being 6' 4" there was loads of room inside it was a bit like the fabia space wise, the interior was very nice indeed :drool:

The approx delivery time for a brand new one is february 2011, so a brand new one is well out of the question not only because of delivery times but price wise aswell due to loosing approx 7k over 2 years !!!

I should have put in the poll list but the megane I was meaning was the R26 version, after wanting one for a good while I have for some reason gone completely off them, maybe the shape of its arse has finally got to me ?? I don't know..... weird LOL

Still thinking of the mk5 R32, will have to try and get a test drive of one local some time :)

before i test drove the vRS that i bought i test drove the astra VXR, leon cupra, golf GTI, vRS and meganne 225 (already had a focus ST) and the astra was the worst. hated the power delivery, and that on/off power isnt matched to the best chassis ive ever driven. theonly thing i liked were the recaro seats which were awesome. i test drove the vectra VXR yesterday and much prefered it to the astra varient.

could you stretch to a leon cupra or even better an editon 30 or pireeli edition GTI. that way you could get upto 360Hp/360Ibft with only the cost of a remap, downpipe, intake and fuel pump so about £1600.

you will be disapointed with the performance of the R32 IMO.

Just got back from a test drive of the vxr, nice car but it was brand new (60) and couldnt rev it over 3k :thumbdown: so it was a bit of a useless test drive ! however the interior was very nice but it still felt to small and cramped for me :S so I'm still on the fence with it :wonder:

I've looked at the new leons and I don't like them, much rather prefer the older ones, the new ones are too fat looking if you know what I mean and the BTCC kit it just awful !

S3 here we come I think :dance::dance::dance:
