Tyre Pressures

Featured Replies

Should tyre pressures be set at sea level? Does the difference in air pressure at sea level or high altitude make any difference. The higher we go the thinner the air is so you have to put more in to get to the required pressure or doesn't it work like that.........Just wondering

Add to that ,it might be worthwhile now to fork out for one of those little electric pumps and a pressure gauge - locally I cannot find one of the old type check gauges .All that's around are the pay first .And at 50p a kick -a bit expensive .

Assuming we're talking about UK, as the highest metalled road is only about 2,200 ft above sea level, who gives a stuff :giggle:

Interesting read  So, roughly, 0.5 psi difference per 1,000 ft... or less than 2 % of recommended tyre pressure. Doubt that any pressure gauges at gas stations &c. are that accurate :p

Not me for sure - yesterday I checked tyre pressure for the first time since switching from winter tyres in March :o

30 psi in every tyre - give and take 5 %...

1st thing in the morning when its nice and cool works for me
