Is this normal behaviour?

Hi all

Sorry if this is posted in the wrong section. I know sometimes when I see another VRS driver on the dual carriageways we might share a nod on overtake etc especially if we have played with eachother, however I was minding my own business on the drive home last night and a fellow FL driver on the other side of the road, gave me a little wave. Naturally I responded. I know this was a craze with the old school VW Beetle community but is this now extending out to us VRS owners? I dont mind if it does, as sad as it sounds I quite enjoyed it.

What does everybody else do?

It doesn't make you a bad person....

Depends. What was he waving?

:hi:

It has been known for this to happen - usually you just get a confused reply though!

Glad to see a successful twin waving session has taken place

When my Dad had a VW Camper (I was at primary school) he used to flash and wave even got waves across motorway lanes!! Never do this now in the vRS as you might see the car spin round and chase you road rage style. So, I make eye contact but never had anyone wave or flash, only from other cars when I hav the DRLs one! I think most owners don't care much, its just a "sporty car". If we had a distinctive bright sticker on the windscreen to show we are a Brisky member than that would be differant!

I have started this in the Bedfordshire region. There's one I see most mornings but he never waves back.

Also got my housemates doing it in their cars (waving at VRss from non Skodas), which confuses people even more!

There's a bloke near me with one and we wave but that's because we've now spoken but it started with the waving....nothing wrong with a mutual appreciation society is there ? MINI drivers do it too I believe.

I wave at others, I also wave a Golf IV as they share the same floorpan.

I can confirm that waving is also common in the leaf sprung land rover community, the coilers tend not to wave.

What does everybody else do?

in suffolk i wave to all skodas i see but not get one back :'(

when i had my subaru sti we all wave

When I had my Mk II Golf GTI, I used to give the vee dub sign to all fellow dubbers. I still live to tell the tale, so no offence taken obviously :smirk:

i used to do a big gay wave to other vRS's because it made me laugh seeing their faces.

a couple of weeks ago,i was sat at the m1/m69 jct21 waiting to join the m69, when i noticed a race blue 58/plate vrs { who was a couple of lanes away from me} whos driver put his hand up to me, as we were both at the front of the queue waiting for the lights to go green, i took this as a handsignal, for me and him to show all the other drivers, what our vrs's could do......, so when the grid, erm sorry, i meant the lights turned green, i pulled away front wheels screaming, to the smell and smoke of burning rubber, everything was getting smaller in my rear view mirror very quickly indeed........

ive only had my vrs a couple of months, i did'nt realize i only had to wave back..........

Yep, I do it or at least make an effort to try another catch another vRS driver's eye. 50/50 whether they look at me like im nuts or wave at me! Once met two other vRs drivers at a junction & we had a jolly good waving & flashing match!. Leicester end of the A47 this was, never been so proud to drive a VRS! :D

Parents used to drive a Land Rover Defender in South Africa, waving & flashing to each other was part of the ownership! :)

I thought you were going to say

"and then I saw the blue strobes in the grille...."

Not much waving here in Surrey but I do often detect a nod or look of recognition quite often, we have an excellent local dealership so Skodas of all shapes and sizes are a significant part of local population, might get a bit tedious to be waving too much.... as an '08 owner I don't feel the recognition from post FL owners... or is this just because I am thinking I should rattle the Piggy Bank and get one myself.

You even wave at Mercs - well, ones that are 40 feet long and have 49 seats anyway! :wonder:

Good point, remember the time I saw you in Blackpool and I was waving my Skoda key at you !

About to take delivery of vRS number 4 ... has only happened to me once in all that time .... however I was too late to respond. Doh! I feel a bit bad about that now :giggle:

I don't have a VRS, but a nice new FL L&K. I thought I had an admira for my car a while ago. However when I went to it later (it was parked up) it just turned out that two huge snails had hitched a lift and it must have been those that got his attention.

Not had any waves, yet. (snails don't have hands....)

What does everybody else do?

happened to me yesterday lunch time. just heading from Spennymoor to Metalbridge in Durham and a guy in a black vRS flashed - i gladly waved back but

was a little baffled.

It quite often happens when i'm out in our mk2 Golf

First it will be a wave and then who knows where it will lead :) lmao. Be waving good by in the mornings before you know it :) lol

I normally flash (headlights..... :giggle: ) to another VRS if I see it in time, but very rarely get one back............. this includes all MK1 and 2's....

We could start a new trend, the VRS wave….. Position fingers to the ‘V’ peace sign and then do the rabbit ear wave whilst pivoting the wrist up and down…… STOP…. it looks wrong tbh, very wrong, forget that idea I was having a light headed moment :notme:
